10 Atmospheric Books I Highly Recommend

10 Atmospheric Books I Highly Recommend

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s all about ‘atmospheric books’ and I LOVE atmospheric books! There are 2 ways to describe this:

The Novelry explains this concept as: “A novel feels atmospheric when the setting and the narrative are deeply involved with one another; when characters and plot are physically embedded in their surroundings, and a near-tangible mood lifts from the pages and wraps itself around the reader.”

Study.com explains that, “The atmosphere is how a writer constructs their piece to convey feelings, emotions, and mood to the reader. The atmosphere in literature might be tense, fast-paced, mysterious, spooky, whimsical, or joyful and can be found in poetry, stories, novels, and series.”

I’m going more the route of the first description. These are 10 books I LOVED in which the story was wrapped up in a big MOOD that just lifted from the pages.

Tell Me:
Did you read any of these and if yes, do you agree that they are atmospheric?

I don’t know why but atmospheric seems always associated with dark or mysterious or ..but never joyful to me! That being said I have read maybe the half and totally agree!

    1. So true! The second definition says atmospheric can mean joyful too, but to me it also always means something dark or mysterious or fantastical.
