TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books

20240326 TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s topic is ‘Movies/TV Shows That Would Have Made Amazing Books’ and since I haven’t watched all that many movies lately, I decided to focus on TV shows.

… Which also turned out tricky because it turns out that most of the TV shows I love and think could be a good book… are actually already based on books (think Good Omens, Sherlock, The Umbrella Academy, Half Bad, Jessica Jones, Heartstopper, Sandman and so on…).

Still, I managed to come up with eight shows that I think would make a great book!

Young Royals: it’s the first show I though off when I saw this prompt. I mean, prince gets sent to boarding school where he falls in love with a poor working class boy, the perfect bookish trope.

Only Murders in the Building: the perfect cozy mystery, multiple books with their own mystery to solve!

Wednesday: this paranormal YA boarding school retelling would be just as much spooky fun in book format.

The Brothers Sun: ugh, I’m still so disappointed this show got cancelled after one season. It would be such a fun bookish action comedy: triad sun moves to the US to protect his estranged mother and little brother who has no idea about the ‘family business’

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Again, this would be such a fun spooky paranormal book series.

Emily in Paris: I feel like maybe a book could do this story so much more justice than the series itself does? Like, just a bit less cheese but all the good drama and intrigue?

Romance is a Bonus Book: Of course I always want more of my favorite kdrama, but I also feel like this could be such an empowering contemporary bookish workplace romance. A divorced single mom falls onto a rough patch and ends up lying on her resume to be able to start working at her best friend’s publishing company. But she ends up rejuvenated and loving her new job, her new colleagues and yes, also her best friend.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha: another kdrama whose story lends itself so excellently for a book! An ambitious city girl’s life gets turned upside down and on a whim she decides to move to a small seaside town where she gets entangled with the colorful inhabitants and falls for the unassuming town handyman.

  10. So…commenting issue again. I can comment from the front page of WP reader, but I can’t comment from your website or when I open your post in reader. There is no comment box. Yours isn’t the only blog I’ve had that issue with today. Dedra’s also did it.

I’ve only watched Wednesday, but I can agree it would be a fun book.
