WWW Wednesday Header

“WWW” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Taking On A World of Words.

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new WWW Wednesday! For this post, we’ll be answering three questions (the 3 Ws):

  1. What did you recently finish reading?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Just Finished Reading
A Ship of Bones and Teeth by Karina Halle

I just finished reading A Ship of Bones and Teeth by Karina Halle as ebook.

This dark retelling of The Little Mermaid with a dash of Pirates of the Caribbean was a fun read (not too dark) and I liked the enemies-to-lovers romance but the ending fell a bit flat for me.

Overall, enjoyable but not super memorable either, I would not re-read.

10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall

I also just finished reading and ARC of 10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall as ebook.

Since Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall is one of my all-time favorite reads, I was quite excited to read a new story in the same world. And my excitement was rewarded, because 10 Things That Never Happened is definitely a new favorite by Alexis Hall!

Full review will follow later this week!

Currently Reading
Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score

I am currently reading Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score as audiobook.

Earlier this year I fell in love with Lucy Score’s Knockemout series and I’ve been anticipating Sloane and Lucian’s story ever since. And so far, I’m LOVING their childhood friends to enemies to lovers story so much.

Also, it just feels so nice to be reunited with some of my favorite characters ever!

Mile High by Liz Tomforde

I am currently reading Mile High by Liz Tomforde as ebook.

Honestly, I almost DNF’ed this one. The first 2-3 chapters really turned me off as the character of Zanders came of as a total douchebag and I didn’t see how he could be redeemed. Luckily, I pushed through, because a few chapters in and his character became absolute besotted with flight attendant Stevie and we learned more about him and I actually fell in love a little with him then. So, a great turnaround and I’ve been enjoying the book ever since.

Reading Next

As usual, I’m a huge mood reader so who knows what I’ll be reading next? Until the moment I pick up a book, not even me knows. But here are a few possibilities:

  1. It’s hard being a mood reader. But this month I’m sticking to my TBR, it’s a miracle really.

    1. Congrats on sticking to your TBR this month! Might be that October magic 🙂

  2. I have the first book in that Lucy Score series sitting on my shelf, I really need to get to it!

    1. I hope you’ll love it!

  3. I didn’t read the last book in that Hall series because I was nervous, but now I really want to read this new one you read. Do I need to read that last one first?
I’m glad you kept on with Mile High. The thing about douchebags in romance is that if they’re the ones falling in love, they’re most likely going to redeem themselves and pretty quickly. If you end up enjoying it, I thought the second book was even better. I’m halfway through the third book right now and I think it might be even better than the second.
    Happy reading!

    1. You definitely don’t need to read Husband Material before starting 10 Things! It’s like a standalone with completely new characters (we did meet one of the characters in Husband Material but that’s so not a must to enjoy this book).
I’m so happy I continued with Mile High too, as I did end up loving it (and Zanders). I just started the second book 😀

  4. Bummer that Ship wasn’t a little more compelling as it does have a neat premise, a little darker version of Mermaid…

    1. Indeed! It was still a good book, but it also didn’t wow me as much as I’d expected it to.

  5. Mile High has been on my TBR for quite a while and I’ve been planning to read it this month. Glad you mentioned pushing through those first few chapters because the MC does sound like kind of a jerk.

    1. I definitely recommend pushing through those first few chapters if you don’t like the MC at first like I did- he quickly turns into the biggest sweetheart and I loved him 🙂

  6. I haven’t read any of those books, but will look forward to your thoughts on Beth O’Leary’s latest. I’ve enjoyed her other books, so this one’s on my TBR.

    1. I hope to dive into the Beth O’Leary book soon 🙂
