Books On My Winter 2021 To-Read List

20211214 Books on My WInter TBR

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today we’re talking about the books on our winter to-be-read lists. Now, normally my lists would be filled with new releases. But for the past 2-3 months I’ve been kind of struggling with my reading. Though I read a good amount of books in quantity, I haven’t been enjoying them as usual. I haven’t been enjoying READING as usual. It’s a slump, but a weird kind of slump.

So instead of focusing on only new releases, I want to take the time this winter to realign, recalibrate, rebalance, whatever you want to call it. I need to fix this slump and find my joy of reading again and I think the best way to do that now is by re-reading some favorites and perhaps focus om some backlist books. Just not force myself to read all the new releases.

That’s why this list is split into 3 parts: new releases (because there are still a few I want to pick up), re-reads and backlist reads. Let’s go!

New Releases

The Long-Forgotten Winter King by Annette Marie

Release date: 14 January 2022

It’s no secret how much I love anything Annette Marie writes, but seriously I am beyond excited for the next installment in the Guild Codex: Unveiled series because I NEED more Zak and Saber.

Electric Idol by Katee Robert

Release date: 18 January 2022

Part two in this Dark Olympus dark romance series is an Eros/Psyche retelling and I am so here for it!

Running Wild by K.A. Tucker

Release date: 25 January 2022

I fell in love with The Simple Wild and Wild at Heart by K.A. Tucker in 2021 and while this next release will focus on veterinarian Marie instead of Callah and Jonah, I’m still so excited to return to Alaska and see how everyone’s doing.

House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas

Release date: 15 February 2022

Another anticipated sequel! House of Earth and Breath was easily one of my favorite 2020 reads and I’m so excited for the sequel (though I’m thinking a re-read may be needed first, because my memory is awful)

Re-Reads

Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata

Okay maybe cheating a little but I’m currently already re-reading this one. I love this adorable slow-burn penpal romance.

Red Winter by Annette Marie

I know I just re-read this last December, but it’s my fave and Annette Marie is hosting a re-read in her Facebook group, so how can I resist?

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

I have a feeling sequel news is coming any moment now (or maybe just a hope) and a re-read sounds perfect for the coming dark winter days.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

I am so excited for the sequel and I’m eager to re-read the first one to fall in love with Luc and Oliver all over again.

Backlist

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling

I’m eager to dive into this witchy, adult Hocus Pocus!

All The Feels by Olivia Dade

The sequel to Spoiler Alert sounds so good and adorable and body-positive!

Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat

A new fantasy by C.S. Pacat, I need it and I need it now.

A Lot Like Adios by Alexis Daria

Wow, this is the time for sequels, because hey I’m so ready for the next Primas of Power book!

    1. Sorry to hear you’ve also been struggling with your reading, Rissi! Though you’re right, it’s okay and we’ll get back to reading when we’re ready 🙂

  6. These last two years have really knocked people off balance. I struggle with reviewing books so much now and I used to review everything I read without fail. I’m definitely trying to just read for fun fun rather than any goals right now. Hope you enjoy your selection.

    1. You’re so right! Sorry to hear you’re also struggling with your reading. But I think it’s indeed a good idea to try to read for fun instead of for goals. Hope it helps!

  14. I just finished Forever Wild and it has me even more excited for Running Wild next month.

    1. I’m thinking I should do a re-read of both books before Running Wild releases 🙂

  15. I hope you enjoy all of these! I’ve also been in a slump this year, so I feel your pain.

    1. Sometimes it’s definitely a good idea to slow down on the reading, at least for the pressure of all the new releases.

    1. The first book in that series is still on my to-read list, glad to hear you enjoyed it!

  24. Marianne Maurer says:

As you know, I also listed the books I already had on various TBR lists, so I fully understand your system. And you did manage to find quite a variety.

We all have times where we don’t read much, I was in a slump twice this year. I blame Covid …

Let’s hope for a better reading year 2022.

Thanks for visiting my TTT which is a TTTT this week.

    1. Absolutely, here’s hoping 2022 will be a better reading year (and just a better year overall) 🙂

  25. Lauren Becker says:

I really should re-read Boyfriend Material before the sequel. I just adored that one!
