Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s all about rainy day reads, and for me, rainy days just seem perfect for reading magical books. So all of the following books contain some magic and a nice touch of whimsy that is guaranteed to make you forget all about the rain outside and just get completely immersed into their fantastical worlds.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I am listening to this one on audiobook right now and I am in love. This is one of the most magical books I’ve ever read and I wish I could visit the actual Night Circus in real life.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

This story about a couple of kids in search of ley lines does not just contain a whole lot of magic, but also a pretty magical friendship.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Laini Taylor has such a beautiful, whimsical writing style that is bound to captivate you completely.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

It’s the magical classic, of course I had to include it.

Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Truthfully, I have  not yet read this myself, but the synopsis already sounds so whimsical and magical, plus it’s Laini Taylor so that says enough

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

If the beautiful cover alone doens’t convince you this is a magical book, then let me tell you that this standalone fantasy was an absolutely gorgeous and enchanting read.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

Another standalone fantasy about a dragon (not really a dragon though) who takes girls from a small village to be his servant. This story will completely sweep you away for sure.

The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

A magical competition set in Imperial Russia, I mean, could this be any more enchanting?

The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas

The Burning Sky trilogy is one of the first fantasy series I fell head over heels in love with. Definitely recommend for anyone in love with elemental magic and gorgeous worlds.

  1. I’ve heard SO many people (mainly on booktube) talk about “The Night Circus.” Makes me think I should give it a second look; apart from hearing about it, I don’t think I’ve really taken a look at what it’s all about. Also, I recently picked up the paperback of ‘Ravens,’ so hopefully I’ll enjoy!! 🙂

  2. With a few rainy days people should just tear through The Raven Cycle. Its just great that way. 😀
And yes Uprooted sweeps quite well.

  3. Oh I love a good rainy day read! The Night Circus looks perfect!!!

  4. Great list and I’m always happy when Enchantment of Ravens gets some love because it’s so underrated I think. Raven Boys would be perfect as well I think!

  5. I love re-reading Harry Potter. I love magical reads and they’re perfect for rainy days.

  6. Great list! Strange the Dreamer made my list this week, too – it’s gorgeous so I hope you enjoy it! I’d quite like to re-read The Night Circus because I didn’t love it when I first read it, but my tastes have changed so much since then. The Raven Boys is one I need to try, too!

  7. The Raven Boys made my list this week too! I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone, though I read that one in the middle of summer, when it was boiling outside. I did read The Crown’s Game in winter though, I can’t remember if it was rainy!

  8. Wow, The Burning Sky sounds good. I’ll have to look that one up.

    My TTT.

  9. Strange the Dreamer is a great book. I’ll have to read The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy at some point. Definitely want to read Uprooted and something by Maggie Stiefvater someday too.

  10. Love the Night Circus – totally one you can get lost in!

  11. You’re the first one I’ve seen who picked solely magical/whimsical type of reads, but I love it! I’m so with you on Harry Potter and The Raven Boys. Oh, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone too. I’d add the Shades of Magic series!

  12. Oh agree. But then I also think these are great for a sunny day too. LOL Love the list!

  13. Daughter of Smoke and Bone made my list, too. Of course Harry Potter is perfect for a rainy day (or a sunny day, or a cloudy day . . . .)
