December 2018: The Month I Gave It My All To Reach My 2018 Reading Goal (& Failed Everything Else Woops) {Monthly Wrap Up}

December 2018

Hi everybody, and welcome to my December wrap up!

The last month of 2018 and pfew, it was quite a mixed month. On the one hand, it was once again proven that I am a very goal-driven person as I gave it my all to reach my Goodreads goal of 60 books read in 2018 and read the most I’ve ever read in one month. On the other hand, things got so busy that other than work, house renovations, reading and sleeping, I had very little time for anything else, which means I’ve been a TERRIBLE blogger. I’m so sorry for being MIA everybody! I only hope it’ll get better soon, but know that I haven’t forgetten you all and will definitely blog hop and comment on all your wonderful posts the moment I get the chance!

For now  though, here’s my December wrap up!

Baby, It’s Cold Outside (So I’m Staying In Reading, Duh) — My Winter TBR {Top Ten Tuesday}

Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Let’s be real for a minute: winter is not my favorite time of the year. In fact, I’m one of those people who wish they could just hole up inside of the house for the duration of winter. Or go somewhere sunnier. Anything to escape winter, which has everything I strongly dislike: freezing temperatures that leave me in a perpetual state of chill and feeling like I’ll never ever feel warm again (#dramaqueen), having to get up even earlier to scrape the ice of my car (ugh), too many layers of clothes that I have never been able to combine in a flattering way (need fashion advice on winter survival, stat), having to face my fears of driving in the snow (nightmare), constantly chapped lips and dry hands and endlessly dark days with no sunshine to boost my morale…

Nope, I’m not a fan of winter. Thankfully, there is one bright side to winter and that is the joy of being able to curl up on the sofa, snuggled under a nice warm blanket, cup of hot cocoa nearby and a great book in your hands. Plus, some of my most anticipated books ever are being released this winter, so in a way, I’m also weirdly looking forward to it…

Without further ado, I present to you the books that I’m hoping to be the beautiful highlights of the next few wintery months…

My 5 Star Predictions For The Rest of 2018 {Top Ten Tuesday}

180420 TTT 5 Star Predictions

Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today is a freebie topic and I have chosen to do the 5 star TBR prediction. Basically, I take a look at all the books on my TBR (more specifically in this case, my 2018 release TBR) and predict which books I think are very likely to become 5 star reads for me.

Though I personally would like to extend this to 4,5 to 5 star ratings. Why? Because in my personal rating system, there is not that much difference between a 4,5 star rating and a 5 star rating. The difference is really only in my reading experience. I could love two books equally and see no flaw in either, but the 5 star book  I may have enjoyed so much because I could read it in one sitting and was totally immersed while reading. While the 4,5 star book  I may have loved equally, but didn’t have the time to read in one sitting so I had to spread it out over 1-2 weeks of annoyingly interrupted reading. Meaning my reading experience for the 4,5 star book just wasn’t as fulfilling as the 5 star book, but that is in no way the book’s fault. I can’t blame my reading experience on the book now, can I? Nor is this something I can predict in any way.

So basically, what I’m trying to say is: these are the 2018 releases I’m predicting to give a 5 (or 4,5) star rating! I’m already super curious to come back at the end of the year and see how right (or wrong) I was 🙂

Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, today’s Top Ten Tuesday is all in the theme of love. I’m a hopeless romantic and I just love love, so I could talke about this topic all year long. However, unfortunately even today, not everybody is lucky enough to be able to express their love freely or to even see themselves represented in (love) stories. So that’s why, in the spirit of love, I wanted to highlight some 2018 releases featuring LGBTQ themes.
