Pokemon Go Book Tag {Tag Thursday}

Pokemon Go Book Tag

Welcome to a new Tag Thursday!

Today’s Tag is in honor of what I’ve been spending quite some time on lately: Pokemon Go. Now, I’ve always been a Pokemon fan. I watched the original tv series religiously, I loved the movies and I was addicted to the Game Boy games. Fun fact: I still have my old Game Boy and I still like to play those games from scratch once a year.

So yeah, I love Pokemon and I love the new Pokemon Go game. I especially love how it has brought Pokemon back into the lifes of so many people and reached some new fans as well. I love going out to catch Pokemon and seeing other people playing the game as well. It’s something that gets people outside and brings them together and I think that’s just amazing!

Of course, when I saw this tag done by Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews, I knew I just had to try it as well. So here it goes!

(The Pokemon Go tag was originally created by Aentee @ Read at Midnight (see her original post here.) I’m also using her graphics.)

pokemon-tag-01startersAnimorphs by K.A. Applegate

The Animorphs series by K.A. Applegate. Honestly I could name a bunch of books here, like The Babysitters Club, Fear Street or Goosebumps. Or even the books that re-started my love of reading, like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games. But Animorphs will always have a special place in my heart and was the first time I ever got really invested in fictional characters.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

I’m counting Harry Potter as a classic for this one. It’s magical and makes me feel nostalgic and just happy. I will always love this book series and keep re-reading it until I’m 80 years old.

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I wouldn’t say I lost interest, but I am a bit torn up about reading anything by Jennifer L. Armentrout, especially the Lux series. I’ve been wanting to read a book by her for ages, but these books are so hyped and I read a few bad reviews and so I’m not sure if I should still give it a try. I’ve heard her books being compared to Twilight and while I loved Twilight when it came out, I’m not sure if I would still enjoy it now. So I don’t know if I would enjoy Jennifer L. Armentrout books now either. Have you read any books by her? Would you still recommend me giving her a try? Please feel free to help me out with this dilemma!

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I know a lot of people dislike this book for exactly this reason, but I love it anyway. And that is Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Yes, the plot does remind a bit of several other YA novels out there (like The Selection, The Hunger Games, and even some X-Men) and has a lot of tropes, but I still enjoyed this book immensely and it was one of my favorite reads of 2015.

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson

Well I started but still have to finish the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I’m procrastinating this one a lot and it’s purely because of the sheer size of these books. Also because the font is really tiny and I’m basically an old lady so this hurts my eyes. But I LOVED the first book and would love to get back into this world. It will happen, I just need some more time to mentally prepare myself.

Enclave by Ann Aguirre Outpost by Ann Aguirre Horde by Ann Aguirre

Now, I don’t really read a lot of scary books. But I was throughly creeped out by the Razorland series by Ann Aguirre. Zombies are not usually my thing, but I still loved this series so much. Even if it did make me a bit more afraid at night. Also, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins had me pretty stressed fopr a few days. I had to stop reading for a bit because that sewer scene was just too much to handle!

I’m a big shipper so asking me to choose just one OTP is just a nightmare. Can I limit it to a few (or you know, ten?) I love Damen/Laurent (Captive Prince), Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter), Feyre/Rhys (ACOTAR), Katniss/Peeta (The Hunger Games), Kaz/Inej (Six of Crows), Juliette/Warner (Shatter Me), Simon/Baz (Carry On) and Cleo/Magnus (Falling Kingdoms). Plus my latest additions: Blue/Gansey and Pynch (The Raven Cycle)

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I always have a little trouble getting into books – usually the first 100 pages are the hardest. However, An Ember in the Ashes is the first book where I did not have this problem at all. It hooked me from page one and I remained completely hooked until the ending. And now I’m just super excited for the sequel coming out later this month!

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

The Shadowhunters books by Cassandra Clare. I had some issues with these books because while I loved the first 3 books of The Mortal Instruments and ADORED The Infernal Devices, I did think the last 3 TMI books were a big disappointment. I was one of those people thinking “We’ve had enough Shadowhunter books, time to move on now Cassandra”. But then came Lady Midnight, and IT WAS GLORIOUS. If every other Shadowhunter book is a good as that one, then by all means, please keep writing them forever and ever!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval by Stephanie Garber. This story just sounds so good and original and I can’t wait to read it! Except I must wait like 6 more months. But it’s okay, it will only increase my excitement!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugho Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

I guess it comes as no surprise if I say Sarah J. Maas here, right? I have loved every single book by here so far and I have no doubt I will love every single book she will write in the future. However, I have a few more auto-buy authors and that’s Leigh Bardugo and Morgan Matson. Both are authors of which I have loved every single book so far, so they are definitely auto-buy for me.

Writen in Red by Anne Bishop Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop

I wouldn’t call them overhyped, but this is a pretty popular series that I’m super excited to start reading, and that is The Others by Anne Bishop. This is a 5-book urban fantasy in which the world is inhabited by the Others (shape-shifters, vampires, …) who rule the Earth and whose prey are humans. It sounds amazing and I can’t wait  to get started with this series!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I want to say Harry Potter and the Cursed Child because I’ve literally been waiting for ten years for this book release! However, at the time this tag goes up I will probably have already finished it (life is great!), so I’m gonna go with Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. I’ve been waiting for both book releases for only a year now, but it feels sooo much longer.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I didn’t want to read this series for a while, because it didn’t sound like something I would like. The covers looked cheesy and the idea of a cyborg Cinderella didn’t do it for me. However, I decided to give it a chance and by the time I read the second book, Scarlet, I was head over heels in love with this series. It may have become one of my all-time favorites even. So if you’re like me, please still give it a try – it really is surprisingly awesome!
pokemon-tag15mew-mewtwoI would love to own the Harry Potter boxset collector’s edition! I have all the Harry Potter books, but the problem is that they are a random collection of different editions, different sizes and even different languages. Just owning a nice little box set with all the same beautiful books would be super nice.

I tag you!
Do you play Pokemon Go? If so, are you a fan from before or a new fan? What’s your favorite Pokemon?
