Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today we’re talking about indie books, or books that are self-published or published via independent press (and not via massive publishing companies).
I have to admit I’m not very good at knowing which books are indie and which are not, though I should be as I definitely want to support indie authors more! For this list, I looked up whether or not these books were indie and though some are no longer independent, they did start out that way, so I’m counting them.
I’m listing 5 indie books I read and love, and 5 indie books I still want to read. Lets go!
5 Indie Books I Read and Love

Red Winter by Annette Marie – I could list all of Annette Marie’s books here, all published by her own Dark Owl Fantasy, and all favorites of mine, but Red Winter is THE favorite.
Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent (originally self-published) – Loved this trilogy!
Vesselless by Cortney L. Winn (originally self-published) – An enemies-to-lovers with a ghost? Sign me up!
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree (originally self-published) – Cozy perfection!
The Road of Bones by Demi Winters (originally self-published) – Viking-themed fantasy done amazing!
5 Indie Books I Still Want to Read

Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron – I can never say no to dragons!
The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic – This is such a beloved series and has been on my TBR too long.
Nocticadia by Keri Lake (originally self-published) – I love reading a dark academia for spooky season.
Broken Bonds by J. Bree – I haven’t read a why choose in too long, and this series comes highly recommended.
Bonded by Thorns by Elizabeth Helen – Another beloved why choose romance I hope to read soon!

Tell Me:
Any of these indie books you read and loved? Or any still on your TBR?

I know I missed a lot of Indie authors from my list, but I used to never read self-pubbed books but eventually did and found some good ones! Hope you enjoy all of the books you still want to read. 🙂
It’s definitely fun when we discover new (indie) authors we enjoy!
RED WINTER 😍😍😍
And I really hope you’ll read Bonded by Thorns. I love that series so much!
Red Winter will forever be my favorite <3
Bonded by Thorns sounds so good, I really hope to get to it soon!
I’ve adored the Legends & Lattes series.
Here’s my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/eight-thoughts-on-the-hardcover-app/
It’s a great book! Though I still need to read the rest of the series.
I didn’t know Legends & Lattes was an indie book!
I was surprised to find out too!
I read Legends and Lattes after Travis put out a call on Twitter for reviewers and loved it. I wasn’t surprised when it got picked up by a traditional publisher.
Thanks for sharing your #TTT
It definitely deserves its popularity!
I love Legends and Lattes. I wanna check out The Foxhole Court and Broken Bonds. Here is my post https://paigesofnovels.wordpress.com/2026/09/08/top-ten-tuesday-new-to-me-books-series-and-authors-ive-read-this-year/
Hope we’ll both enjoy The Foxhole Court and Broken Bonds when we get to them!
I had an Annette Marie book on my list today as well! But it was her collab with Rob Jacobsen. I need to continue that series, and pick up this one you’ve mentioned! Also loved Legends & Latte. I remember how excited I was when I got an ARC when Baldree was promoting it on Twitter 😂 Ah, good times, lol.
Ooh, the collab with Rob Jacobsen is a great one too (love Kit!) but I definitely recommend Red Winter too because that’s my all-time favorite 🙂
Enjoy the ones you have not read, have a great week!
Thanks, I hope you have a great week too!
The Foxhole Court will always hold a special place in my heart.
I hope to be able to read it soon!
Same. Indie books/authors just don’t seem to make it onto my radar much. This prompt has been a good one to help me get an idea of what’s out there on the indie market.
Happy TTT!

So true, this topic was very helpful to look at my TBR from another viewpoint 🙂
This is a great way to present the options. I honestly don’t run into Indie books much since I rarely shop in person. I guess I need to discover them in another route. Hmm. How about this one! Aha!
Haha so true, this topic is a great way to discover new indie books !
I still really want to read Daughter of No Worlds! And I keep seeing Nice Dragons Finish Last, it sounds so good! I hope you enjoy the ones you still want to read 🙂 Here’s my TTT this week:
