Monthly Wrap Up

May 2026: The Month of Wolves and Hockey Players

2026 Wrap up - May

Hi everybody, happy June and welcome to my May wrap-up!

I haven’t read a whole lot this month, but I did enjoy what I read AND I got to see the long awaited adaptation of a beloved book series!

What I Read

Dating After the End of the World by Jeneva Rose

I really enjoyed the premise of this (romance during a zombie apocalypse) and I felt for the fact that our main character didn’t have a normal childhood because of her doomsday-prepping father. There was a lot of action and the pace was fast which made the book unputdownable. But I struggled with both main characters, as I felt they acted more like teenagers than actual adults. Unfortunately I also didn’t fall for the romance as a result. 3 STARS

Dire Bound by Sable Sorensen (The Wolves of Ruin #1) – RE-READ

This was one of my favorite reads of 2025 and I wanted to do a re-read in anticipation of the sequel releasing. And I still loved it as much as the first time! 5 STARS. [My full review]

Fury Bound by Sable Sorensen (The Wolves of Ruin #1)

Even after just finishing my re-read of book 1, I was still kind of surprised by how dark these books are. Fury Bound is even darker than Dire Bound. Things are not going easy for Meryn and I just wanted to give her a hug. I loved the politics, I loved finding out more about the world, I loved the new characters and I loved getting Stark’s POV. I wasn’t completely in love with the romance buildup, though I can’t really put my finger on why that is. Still a great sequel though, and I’m eager for book 3. 4 STARS

What I Listened To

Against The Current – Dead Man Walking

A new song by one of my favorite bands, and it may become one of my all-time favorites by them!

What I Watched

The Boys Season 5

I’m so sad to see this show come to an end! I must say it did not end as I was expecting, but overall I thought it was a good finale.

Off Campus Season 1

I LOVED this show! I felt like it was a great adaptation from the books – the changes they did made sense overall and I loved the characters. Though Dean and Allie kind of stole the show a bit from Hannah and Garrett… but I love them so I can’t wait for season 2!

Life Update

So you may have noticed my irregular posting schedule from April has continued throughout May… and it may continue at least a month more unfortunately. We found out last month my mother will need to move into a new apartment… before the end of June. She’s not in the best health, so she needs a lot of help from me and my brother. My brother however, is also due to become a dad to his second child this month so his time is understandably a bit more limited. On top of that, we’ve also had a hard-hitting loss in my family in law. So yeah, it’s been hectic and it may be hectic for a bit longer still. So please bear with me if I may not be able to post regularly or have some delays in commenting.

THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY THIS MONTH:

  • I had two weeks off from work. Though they didn’t entirely go as planned due to the stuff I mentioned above, I still got to spend a few nice days at the coast. We also got new flowers for our garden and painted our office a new color. So still some rest and productivity.
  • I also had a nice lunch catching up with friends I hadn’t seen in a while.
  • The last installment in Annette Marie’s Guild Codex: Warped came out! I’m reading it right now so expect a review soonish 🙂

THINGS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

  • Another book adaptation to look forward to! I’m eagerly awaiting Every Year After, based on Every Summer After by Carley Fortune.
  • At the end of the month I’m going to a festival where I’ll see two of my favorite bands: Linkin Park and Papa Roach.

How was your May? What did you read? What did you listen to and what did you watch? What are you looking forward to in June?

Lindsey xoxo

The Boys series finale had a few surprises but I am happy with how it ended. Now get ready for Vought Rising.

    1. I’m definitely looking forward to meeting my new niece 😀

  5. Dire Bound has been flying off the display I made. I haven’t touched it, because I thought it was just run-of-the-mill romantasy. But it sounds like it might be a bit darker than that, and I do like my reading dark…

    1. I thought it was indeed a bit darker than most romantasy, though if you like reading dark books it might not be dark enough…
