My (Ever Chill) Bookish Goals for 2026

20260120 My (Ever Chill) Bookish Goals for 2026

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today we’re talking about our bookish goals for 2026. As I mentioned in previous years, I’m a big mood reader and forcing myself to reach certain goals stresses me out and causes book and blogging slumps, so I’m keeping my goals pretty chill as always. Let’s go!

MAIN GOAL / BONUS GOAL /
THE GOAL TO RULE ALL GOALS:

This is the same as every year: all the below goals are more like guidelines – fun is what matters most! Reading/blogging what I want, when I want to.Β It’s okay if I miss a week of posts. It’s okay if I don’t read and review the newest release right away (or at all). It’s okay if I prefer to binge a tv show instead of read. It’s all okay. I don’t need to do anything. This is a hobby, and it’s meant to be fun.

(Disclaimer: I say this every year, but it’s easier said than done and as such, a constant work in progress πŸ™‚)

Read 50 books

Even if it should be about quality over quantity, I just can’t not do this challenge! So my compromise to myself is to keep it reasonable: 50 books per year. For me, that’s doable and I usually surpass it. But if I don’t… that’s okay!

Read some new-to-me authors
(that have been on my TBR too long already)

In 2025, I didn’t pick up a lot of books by new-to my authors, which is a shame. There are a few authors I’ve been wanting to try for ages, but I haven’t yet. This year I want to regularly pick up a book by a new-to-me author, at least the ones that have been on my TBR the longest

Read some more backlist TBR books

I’d like to focus a little less on shiny new releases and focus instead on a few books that have been on my TBR for a while.

Re-read

I always love re-reading and I do already re-read quite often (in 2025, 14 of my 55 reads were re-reads), but I still want to re-read more! Here are some contenders for 2026 re-reads:

What are your bookish goals for 2026?

  1. I need to read more of the books that have been on my shelves for a while! But then I say this every year! All the best with your goals. πŸ™‚

    1. Haha my goals are also pretty recurring, but that’s okay, it just means we keep working on it πŸ™‚

  2. Rereading The Guild Codex: Spellbound series would heal my soul this year πŸ˜…

    1. OMG yes, the world (me especially) needs more Guild Codex right about now!

  3. I love these goals. Very realistic!

    1. I find these kind of goals work best for me πŸ™‚

  4. I love all these goals! I’m purposely keeping my reading goal low, too! And I always want to reread more!

    1. Rereading is so fun, I love it! (even if those shiny new releases are also screaming for my attention πŸ˜€ )

  5. I like your attitude!

Thanks for sharing your #TTT and good luck with all of your goals

    1. Thanks so much!

  6. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

I also set my easy goal at 50. And I should plan a reread of. ninth House and He’ll Bent as the sequel is announced for 2026!

    1. Yes, I’m so looking forward to the sequel to Ninth House and Hell Bent too! πŸ™‚

  7. Having fun is the most important part!

    1. Absolutely! πŸ™‚

  8. These are great goals and totally chill. Yes to Backman!!! I want to read more of my backlist too. Good luck with all of these!

    1. Thanks so much! Hope we’ll both get to our backlist this year πŸ™‚

  9. Love your totally chill goals.. I was close to 50 this year so getting to 50 book would be nice. I have read My Friends and Thank You for Listening.

    1. Thanks! I’m hoping I’ll get to My Friends an Thank You For Listening this year πŸ™‚

  10. Laurie says:

Choosing quality over quantity is such a mood, because A) you want to hit that number because it looks good, but B) you want to branch out, explore. And not all books are that good. So this one is pretty relatable.

    1. Yes, exactly!

  11. I want to do some rereading this year as well. I always have a list of new authors to try, and some have been languishing for several years…maybe this year!

    1. Hope we’ll both get to some rereading and new authors this year πŸ™‚

  12. I definitely recommend Backman and Sager. I’ve only read two books by the former, but I loved them both. I’ve read all of Sager’s books except FINAL GIRLS and really like them in general, although some are better than others, of course. Good luck with your goals!

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    1. Thanks! I really hope 2026 will be the year I try both those authors!

  13. Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries is amazing! I hope you’ll be able to read it this year. I’m hoping to reread a few books too this year. I hope you achieve all your goals 😊.

    1. Thanks! I really hope I’ll be able to get to Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries this year πŸ™‚

  14. Good luck! This year, I don’t want to be mad at myself for messing up my blog schedule. Sometimes I’m tired and want to watch TV.

    1. Thanks! Yes, that’s definitely a goal of mine too!

  15. Gotta love the goal to rule all goals! It’s so easy to get caught up in all the challenge, ARCs, etc., but as a mood reader I can totally relate that it can sometimes suck the fun out of reading with all the pressure. These are some great goals though and I hope you have fun achieving them, Lindsey πŸ™‚

    1. So true, Dini! I have to remind myself of the goal to rule all goals quite regularly πŸ™‚
