Hi everybody, I hope you had a happy October and a happy Halloween!
I think I’m still stuck in a bit of a slump, because despite having big plans to read so many atmospheric and cozy fall reads, I read even less than last month. But that’s okay, because A) I did LOVE what I read B) I hope I’ll get my reading mojo back in November and C) in the meantime, this is a short post haha. Let’s go!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass #4) (Re-Read)
This remains one of my all-time favorite series and that is only confirmed with this re-read. Love! 5 STARS
If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia
ONE OF MY FAVORITE READS OF THE YEAR! A cozy small-town fall read, set in the nineties with a black cat / golden retriever slow-burn romance, what’s not to love? This is the perfect mix of cozy fall vibes with amazing character depth and development, as well as a romance with the right amount of slow-burn and chemistry and banter. Yep, I’m a fan! 5 STARS – READ FULL REVIEW
Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver
I really enjoyed this one, though I have to say I was a bit confused near the end when there were still quite a few unfinished plotlines and open questions… only to find out this isn’t a a trilogy of standalone companion books like Brynne Weaver’s Ruinous Love Trilogy, but a trilogy that actually follows the same characters over the course of 3 books. So that left me a bit confused, but it’s okay as I now have the second book to look forward to! That said, I wasn’t as in love with this one as the Ruinous Love trilogy books, but it’s still a solid read for spooky season. 4 STARS

Taylor Swift – The Fate of Ophelia
Like I feel like half of the world, I’ve had The Life of a Showgirl on repeat throughout the month. The Fate of Ophelia is my favorite of the album, so I’m happy it’s the lead single and has such a fun music video too.
Chrissy Costanza – Rope
My favorite pop-rock vocalist also released a new song, and it’s another banger that I’ve been singing along to for weeks now.

I haven’t watched a lot this month, as I’ve still slowly been making my way through my Crash Landing On You re-watch, as well as my first-time watch of Bon Appétit Your Majesty. But I did watch the live action movie for How To Train Your Dragon and really enjoyed that one!
I am also excited to soon start with the new seasons of Alice in Borderland and Nobody Wants This!
I’m not quite sure what exactly brought on my reading slump this month. I just haven’t felt up to reading, or pretty much anything else after work. But I did have a nice lunch date with some former frolleagues and a BFF lunch date. And lots of fun weekend activities planned for the next few months!
THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY THESE MONTHS:
- As I mentioned, a few nice friend lunches
- Autumn walks with nice colors and crunchy leaves
- My Throne of Glass re-read via audiobooks + discovering a new favorite cozy fall romance
- My Crash Landing on You rewatch – ah still one of the best kdramas ever!
- Halloween / my birthday on which I turned 40. Not sure if that number made me happy, but I am still always happy to be able to celebrate my favorite holiday and my birthday.
THINGS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
- Many weekend activities planned with friends and family.
- Brimstone releases! Though I’d love to re-read Quicksilver before diving into the sequel.
- Putting up Christmas decorations! Don’t judge me for being early, but I love and need those cozy lights ASAP. Maybe I can hold out for 1-2 more weeks but we’ll see. How soon do you put up your Christmas decorations?
How was your October? What did you read? What did you listen to and what did you watch? What are you looking forward to in November?

I just got If It Makes You Happy from the library and I am so excited to jump in.
I hope you’ll love If It Makes You Happy as much as I did!
Happy birthday! Welcome to the “40” club! We watched How To Train Your Dragon, too, and now Henry is obsessed with it!
Thank you! 🙂 Aww so cute that Henry loves How To Train Your Dragon!
