Get To Know Me In 10 Songs {Non-Bookish Post}

20250826 Get To Know Me In 10 Songs

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

And also, HI!! This is my first post back after my summer break and I’m happy to be back! It’s fun to be able to get back into book blogging with a non-bookish get to know me post – it really feels like I’m back after a long break and just easing back into things again 😉

Since one of my passions other than books is music, I thought I’d do a get to know me in 10 songs. These are 10 songs that have been a important part of my life and will give you a little insight into me 🙂 Of course, 10 songs is very little so this turned out to be a lot harder than I had thought at first, but oh well let’s just go with it!

In chronological order, from childhood to now:

Spice Girls – Wannabe

I LOVED Spice Girls as a kid. I had the photobooks, I saw the movie, I knew all the songs. I also danced as a kid (well, I only stopped a few years ago) and the summer this song released we performed this in a couple of playback shows. I was Ginger Spice. And no, I don’t have any photographic evidence anymore 🙂

Linkin Park – Crawling

Crawling was the first song I ever heard by this band called Linkin Park and I fell in love. It started a love that would go on for years and years and to this day, Linkin Park is still my favorite band. I remember many evenings that teenage me spent listening to their music.

Fall Out Boy – Dance Dance

I guess this band and this song marked the start of my emo-era. Still one of my favorites!

My Chemical Romance – Famous Last Words

Another favorite band from my YA era. When they stopped making music, it broke my heart. Though now they’re touring again and I’m hoping for a stop in Belgium someday 🙂

Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud

My wedding dance <3 (well, the song anyway, we didn’t actually do the choreo from the video…)

Xia – Flower

This is the song that got me into Kpop. I used to be obsessed with this anime called Death Note and guess what? They even had a Death Note musical! Of course I gobbled up anything I could find about that, and when I discovered one of the actors/singers had a kpop career, I dove into that rabbit hole… and I still haven’t left 🙂 But Flower will always hold a special meaning in my heart… plus it’s just sooo good!

BTS – Mic Drop

One of the first kpop bands I ever loved was of course BTS. The first song I heard by them was Not Today, but my all-time favorite is Mic Drop. Excited for their comeback soon!

Dreamcatcher – Deja Vu

One of my favorite female kpop bands has got to be Dreamcatcher. I love their vibe, how they blend kpop with fantasy, gothic and rock elements – it’s like all of my loves combined!

Against The Current – Weapon

No ‘get to know me’ list of songs is complete without an Against The Current song. I’ve loved them for many years but only recently got to see them live (twice!) and it was one of my absolute life highlights.

Linkin Park – The Emptiness Machine

Yes, I’m listing this band twice. Because not only have they been such a crucial part of my life growing up, to then have them come back after everything they’ve been through and take on this next chapter in their musical career… I can’t begin to explain how empowering this felt.

Ooof this was hard! Limiting it to only 10! I feel like I’m still missing so much, but okay that’s part of the game of these top ten lists 🙂

Tell Me:
What’s a song or an artist that would be your ‘get to know me’ song or artist?
Do we have any in common?

So many good songs on here! And yes I was such a Spice Girls merch collector as well as a kid. I didn’t have the barbies and shirts though.

      1. Glad to know I wasn’t the only Spice Girls fan as a kid! 🙂

  2. If I was doing this list, there would definitely have to be something from Bon Jovi on there, probably Livin’ on a Prayer!

    1. Oh that is definitely a great one too!

  3. I’ve been singing Walking On Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves since I heard it on the radio yesterday. It gets me jigging around. I looked up the video for it and was confused by its lack of sunshine🤔
My TTT is about the Natural World.

    1. Haha I never realised that the video for Walking on Sunshine lacked sunshine 😀 I’ll need to check it out, but yes the song is so fun!

  4. Welcome back from the summer break! I hope you had a fab time 🙂 This is such a fun topic but omg, so tough! I fully relate to all the music you posted up until Ed Sheeran’s song—the others I’m unfamiliar with. Ah, Linkin Park. I was just listening to Meteora and Hybrid Theory the other day and it made me so nostalgic!

    1. Thanks so much Dini! And yes, I thought it was fun too, but only realized how difficult it was when I was halfway 😀 Linkin Park is one of those rare bands to me that are connected to my youth AND my present-a-little-less-youthful-days! 😉

  5. It’s nice to see you around again. Welcome back!

This would make a fun playlist.

    1. Thanks so much! And a playlist sounds like a great idea 🙂

  6. Oh dear. Now you have made me realize how out of it I am. lol

    1. Oh no, I’d probably be out of it when it comes to other people’s chosen songs, it’s just so personal 🙂

  7. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

Linkin Park is one of my favorite bands ever too!

    1. Yay, I’m glad to hear we have them in common! 🙂

  8. This is a great idea for a topic and it would be hard to narrow it down. I think one of my songs would have to be “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin.

    1. Oh, Don’t Worry Be Happy is such a good pick too!

  9. Welcome back! Hope you had/are having a fun and fabulous and relaxing summer. 🙂 Also, this is super fun! Maybe something I need to do next time I do a non-bookish post. Thanks so much for visiting my list today!

    1. Thanks Rissi! I’d love to read about your get-to-know-me songs!

  10. A great collection of music to get to know you better. I’m sure if I were to put a list like this together, it would be all over the place. LOL!

    1. Thanks! Oh, I think playlists that are all over the place are the best kinds 😀

  11. There’s many good songs on here, but SPICE GIRLS!! Oh my gosh… those were the days!! haha

    1. Haha to be that young again and have Spice Girls on repeat 😀

  12. The second Spice Girls album was my very first cd I had gotten for my first communion and I loooved it!

    1. I was so obsessed with their music, I loved them 🙂

  13. I was obsessed with Spice Girls as a kid. I guess I’m still obsessed because I was listening to them in my patrol car at work a few days ago.

    1. The Spice Girls are definitely still a fun, nostalgic listen 🙂

  14. Welcome back, Lindsey! You’ve been missed.

I’m lame and I haven’t heard of any of these songs. I do like Ed Sheeran, though.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    1. Thanks so much, Susan! Definitely not lame, just different tastes 😉 Ed Sheeran is pretty great indeed!

  15. Dance Dance is a great song!

Hmm. A Get to Know Me artist or song. I really love The National Parks, and the song Dance With Everybody

    1. Yay, I love Dance Dance! Oh, I’m new to The National Parks, I’ll have to check it out!

  16. Lauren Always Me says:

I still love that Fall Out Boy song! 😀
