Monthly Wrap Up

May 2025: The Month of Direwolves, Shadow Foxes and Magical Puppies

2025 Wrap up - May

Hi everybody, happy June and welcome to my May wrap up! While my May has been a bit slow in terms of reading, I did really enjoy the books I read so that’s a win for me. Let’s go!

What I Read

Direbound by Sable Sorensen

Sometimes you just come across the right book at the right time. Direbound was that book for me. From the very first page, I was hooked and I flew through it, without being able to stop. This was everything I want in a fantasy romance. I ENJOYED reading this book so much.

Fearless (The Powerless trilogy #3) by Lauren Roberts

I had mixed feelings about this final installment in the series. I felt like the plot was spotty in places and felt a bit too much like book one. But what was once again outstanding was the romance. The pining, the banter, the tension… AMAZING!

Enchantra (Wicked Games #2) by Kaylie Smith

Phantasma was one of my favorite reads of 2024 so I was super excited to read more in this world in Enchantra. And it was another win! A lush estate in the Italian countryside, a cursed family forced to play deadly games, a sassy heroine and a broody hero with shadow powers and the cutest shadow fox familiar, devils, masquerades, piranhas, mazes,… I’m sad this book is finished and I’m eager to dive back into a new Wicked Game in book 3!

The Things We Water by Mariana Zapata

This was a cozy, slow-paced, slow-burn fantasy romance and though I thought it was a bit too slow for me, I still really enjoyed it overall. It’s one of those books that make you wish a place was real and you could live there among the cast of characters yourself.

What I Listened To

With a soundtrack full of teenage favorites releasing new songs, it felt like another nostalgic month!

Halsey & Amy Lee – Hand That Feeds

The Rasmus feat. Niko Vilhelm of Blind Channel – Break These Chains

Linkin Park – Let You Fade

What I Watched

TV wise, it’s been a slow month. I watched a few episodes of Schitt’s Creek and rewatched some of One Piece but not much else.

Life Update

May has been back to work after I had 2 weeks off in April, and our weekends have been full of family and friends so that’s good (even if my reading has been a little bit less because of it).

THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY THIS MONTH:

  • Nice weather and being able to watch so many flowers we planted in April already starting to bloom.
  • Lunch and dinner dates with friends and family.
  • A lot of great book releases that I’m still making my way through and still have to look forward to.

THINGS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

  • New book releases: Never Been Shipped + Caught Up
  • The new season of Squid Game at the end of June.
  • As you may remember from a previous wrap up, I started doing archery at the end of 2024. So far I’ve been using a bow that the club provides and we all share, but next month I’m going to finally get my own bow. I’m so excited about that!

How was your May? What did you read? What did you listen to and what did you watch? What are you looking forward to in June?

Lindsey xoxo
