My (Chill As Always) Bookish Goals for 2025

20250114 My (Chill As Always) Bookish Goals for 2025

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today we’re talking about our bookish goals for 2025. As always, I’m a big mood reader and forcing myself to reach certain goals stresses me out and causes book and blogging slumps, so I’m keeping these goals pretty chill. Let’s go!

MAIN GOAL / BONUS GOAL /
THE GOAL TO RULE ALL GOALS:

This is the same as every year: all the below goals are more like guidelines – fun is what matters most! Reading/blogging what I want, when I want to.Β The truth is, even with my chill goals, I felt quite slumpy for a lot of 2024. Mostly because I pushed myself too much: I needed to get 2-3 blog posts per week written, I needed to read the latest book releases, I needed to read a minimum number of books a month…

No more in 2025! It’s okay if I miss a week of posts. It’s okay if I don’t read and review the newest release right away (or at all). It’s okay if I prefer to binge a tv show instead of read. It’s all okay. I don’t need to do anything. This is a hobby, and it’s meant to be fun.

Read 50 books

Even if it should be about quality over quantity, I just can’t not do this challenge πŸ™‚ So my compromise to myself is to keep it reasonable: 50 books per year. For me, that’s doable and I usually surpass it. But if I don’t… that’s okay!

Read some new-to-me authors
(that have been on my TBR too long already)

There are a few authors I’ve been wanting to try for ages, but I haven’t yet. This year I want to regularly pick up a book by a new-to-me author, at least the ones that have been on my TBR the longest (a lot of these were on my list of goals last year too… But umm, in the spirit of my main goal… it’s okay πŸ˜‰ )

Catch up on/finish some series

I do tend to read less series nowadays, so this is less of an issue as it used to be, but I still have quite some series I want to catch up on!

Read some more backlist TBR books

I’d like to focus a little less on shiny new releases and focus instead on a few books that have been on my TBR for a while.

Re-read

I always love re-reading and I do already re-read quite often, but I still want to re-read more! I want to re-read standalones, but I also have a few longer series I’d like to re-read in 2025. (Throne of Glass was on my list last year too but… it’s okay!)

  1. I also need to read some backlist books AND read some sequels. This includes Nita’s Molly the Maid sequel. πŸ™‚ Hope you meet all of your goals… but in a chill kind of way. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Rissi! Chill is definitely the way to go πŸ˜‰

  2. The backlist and finishing some series are so relatable…

    1. The neverending goals πŸ™‚

  3. I love your goals. IΒ‘, also trying to focus on just ejoying my reading instead of listening to that internal little voice that just wants to read more and read faster

    1. Yes exactly, let’s hope we’ll be able to ignore that annoying little internal voice a bit more this year πŸ™‚

  4. I want to attend a bookish event but Belgium doesn’t have that many interesting ones that I know of. *sobs*

    1. I know, it really sucks that Belgium has almost no bookish events! I always get a bit jealous when I hear about other bloggers going to events.

  5. Oh, I love this post! Yes, fun is definitely what matters most.

    1. Reading should definitely stay fun, so that’s always my main goal πŸ™‚

  6. These are great goals, and I totally agree about keeping things fun! I hope you get to Meghan Quinn and Chanel Cleeton this year, I love them both!

    1. Thanks! I hope I’ll get to read those authors too, I think I’d love their books!

  7. Great goals! Simple, fun, “easy” (in theory lol)… I like it! I want to do read more of my backlist as well. Happy reading πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks! I definitely like my goals to be fun and easy (mostly) πŸ˜€ Hope we’ll both get to our backlist this year!

  8. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

I certainly want to have fun and less pressure!

    1. I hope we’ll both get that this year, Sophie!

  9. They are all great goals, Lindsey! I also put pressure on myself to post so many posts a week, we are our own worst enemies, aren’t we?! I read new authors every year and I love it!

    1. Haha we definitely are our own worst enemy, but this year I’ll try to reign myself in a little bit πŸ˜€

  10. These all feel like solid goals, Lindsey. And I hope you enjoy Apprentice to the Villiain as much as I did.

    1. Thanks! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Apprentice to the Villain!

  11. I love these chill goals. I also need to read a couple on your list! I hope you get all of these done, but most of all have fun. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks! Fun is definitely the main goal πŸ˜€

  12. I agree with everything you said about this being a hobby so you need to do what’s fun for you. I purposely picked challenges and goals that fit the way I read, and have read, for years. No pushing myself. Great goals and post!

    1. Thanks! Picking challenges and goals that fit the way you read is definitely a great way to keep it fun and stress-free!

  13. My goal is also 50 books! Love this list!

    1. Thanks! Hope we’ll both get to our goal of 50 books, but most of all that we’ll love all of those books πŸ™‚

  14. I love the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert, but I think I’m two books behind. I also want to do a ToG reread and I’m thinking of listening to the audiobooks while I tackle my physical TBR.

  15. I’ve also been meaning to read Chanel Cleeton for forever. I don’t know why I haven’t done it yet. Maybe this year will be the year for both of us! Riley Sager is a auto-read author for me. I usually zip through his books in a day because they’re SO gripping. I hope you have lots of FUN with your reading this year, however it ends up looking.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

  16. Literary Feline says:

Catching up with series reading always seems to be one of my goals. I am never quite as successful as I hope to be, but I figure it’s a work in progress. I wish you good luck with all your goals this year, Lindsey!

    1. Catching up on series is definitely a constant work in progress for me too πŸ™‚ Thanks and good luck with your goals too!

  17. Good luck with your reading goals. You’re right about book blogging being a fun hobby. I have Final Girls on audio. Happy reading!

    1. Thanks so much! Hope you’ll love Final Girls!
