New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022

20230124 New-To-Me Authors

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today we’re highlighting the new-to-us authors we discovered in 2022 and well… this was confronting because I only had 10 of them in total. So I only read 10 new authors this year, and other than that I stuck with my favorites. Which is okay, but I do want to try to do better in 2023. But the few I did discover were great:

  1. I really do need to give one of Katherine Center’s a chance! I haven’t read any of hers yet, but so many seem to enjoy her novels. 🙂

    1. The Bodyguard was my first Katherine Center, but I did really enjoy it!

  2. Borison, Mandanna, and Bannen all made me list as well! I’m so glad you also enjoyed Center and Quinn too.

    1. They were all great finds for 2022 – I hope to read more by all of them if possible 🙂

  3. What a great list! Mandana made my TTT list, too! I’m a longtime fan of Julia Quinn and Deborah Harkness. And A Marvellous Light and The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy are both on my TBR list.

    1. Mandana was such a great new find for 2022! I hope you’ll enjoy A Marvellous Light and The Undertaking of Hart & Mercy.

  4. A Discovery of Witches has been on my radar for several years. Did you enjoy it? Did you read on in the series?

    1. A Discovery of Witches was on my radar for a long time as well! I had mixed feelings about it, it was very long and I had some trouble with that, but I do plan on continuing the series.

Megan Bannen was also a new one!

    1. Definitely one of my favorite new discoveries of 2022!

  6. I still want to read The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. And Freya Marske is awesome. I can’t wait for the third book in that series.

    1. I hope you’ll love The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches! Ah, I still need to read the second book in Freya Marske’s series, but I did enjoy the first one.

I read Katherine Center for the first time last year as well, but didn’t include her as The Bodyguard was one of my favorite reads of 2022.

  13. I read the Bodyguard last year as well. Good luck trying more new authors this year. I have started a list of the few I can remember that I want to try this year.

    1. A list would indeed be a good idea since there are so many I’m already feeling like I forgot a lot of them.

  14. Julia Quinn made a few lists today. I actually ordered three books from your list. Thanks for sharing. Hope you discover more great authors this year.

    1. Haha yes it’s funny since she’s been writing for a while already, but glad so many people discovered her books last year.

  15. I tried Lucy Foley with The PAris Apartment too and loved it!

    1. The Paris Apartment was so fun indeed! I definitely want to try more Lucy Foley.

  16. Deborah Harkness is great. I love A Discovery of Witches!

    1. I definitely still want to continue that trilogy!

  17. I also had Freya Marske on my list this week. I was the same, I only read 10 new authors in 2022 and I only include the ones I plan to read more from on these new-to-me lists, so I split my list and did half new authors from 2022 and half new ones I want to read in 2023. Made it much easier!

Here’s my list for this week: http://leahs-books.com/2023/01/24/ttt-new-to-me-authors-i-discovered-in-2022/

    1. Thanks, glad to hear we both love those authors!

  19. I’ve read a couple Lucy Foley and she certainly does the “locked room” mystery well! I also read the Harkness series and really liked it – two very different authors! I love finding new authors and this week is certainly adding to my TBR with every visit! Thanks for the visit.

    1. Haha yes, these Top Ten Tuesday posts definitely keep our TBR’s fed 😀 I definitely want to try more Lucy Foley and Deborah Harkness.

  20. I am going to have to check out the Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches. I’ve seen it on a few lists now.

    1. It was a lovely, cozy read – hope you’ll end up loving it too!

  21. Great looking books on your list. The only reason that I didn’t put Lucy Foley on my list was because I discovered her in 2021. I have loved her mystery series.

    Have a great week!

  24. I have a blogger friend who has been raving about Katherine Center for at least two years now, and I still have not read anything by her. I need to fix that this year.

    1. I’ve only read the one Katherine Center book, but I’m definitely hoping to read more soon 🙂 Hope you’ll love her too when you give her a try!

  25. Katherine Center is one of my favorites. I first discovered her books at the beginning of the pandemic and have devoured almost her entire backlist already.

    1. That’s so great to hear! I’ve only read The Bodyguard so I’m glad I still have an entire backlist to discover 🙂
