Top Ten Tuesday

10 Series I’d Like To Catch Up On

20221108 Series I'd Like To Catch Up On

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s topic is all about series. I LOVE series but the problem is that if I don’t binge them in one go, chances are small I’ll ever finish them at all. Because I forget what happened in book one so I tell myself I’ll re-read before I start the next one, but then THAT never happens because re-reads take time away from shiny new books…

Below are 10 series I started and loved, but never finished. Maybe I should make it into a challenge for myself next year, so I can finally catch up on these series:

A League of Extraordinary Women by Evie Dunmore – I loved book one, but still need to read books 2 and 3.

The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff – Again, loved book one but never read the rest of the trilogy.

The Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman – Another case of only 1 book read in the trilogy.

The Bridgertons by Julia Quinn – Read books 1 and 2 and hope to read at least books 3 and 4 by the time the new season of the TV show is released.

The Bloodright Trilogy by Emily Skrutskie – Book 1 was one of my favorite reads, yet I never continued with the rest of the series.

Sands of Arawiya by Hafsah Faizal – It’s a duology so only two books and yet I haven’t finished this one either.

Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco – Read 2 out of 4.

Girls of Paper and Fire series by Natasha Ngan – Only read book one so far.

Cursebreakers by Brigid Kemmerer – I loved book one so much, but then I never continued.

The Aurora Cycle by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff – I read and loved the first 2 books, but still haven’t read the final book.

Tell Me:
Have you read/finished any of these series?
Any you LOVED and definitely think I should finish ASAP? 🙂

Lindsey xoxo

These are the series I mentioned this week!

    1. Thanks so much! Hope you’ll love Jay Kristoff if you decide to try his books.

  2. May you enjoy catching up on all of them!

I have finished Aurora and also Stalking Jack the Ripper! I loved both series!

    1. So glad to hear you loved both those series!

  4. Same on Bridgerton! I’m also up to the third book and need to keep going!

    1. Luckily we have some time before the new season of the Bridgerton TV show comes out so we can catch up on the books by then 🙂

  5. I’m on book 5 of Bridgerton and Illuminae files are on my TBR. Still want to get to it!

    1. Hope you’ll love all those books when you get to them!

  6. Great list! I also had The Aurora Cycle on my list today—I still have to read the last book and I’m kinda worried I’m gonna be bummed by it for some reason? 😂 I *loved* Illuminae, Nevernight, and We Hunt the Flame! 😍 I hope you get around to reading these some time.

    1. Ahh me too about the final Aurora Cycle book – I’ve read some mixed reviews so maybe that’s holding me back even if I loved the first two books. Hope we’ll both end up loving it though once we try it 🙂

  7. I finished Illuminae Files a couple of years ago. I read the book, took a big break and then listened to the last two. It was a fun way to experience them. I hope you can finish them soon.

    1. I have actually been wondering whether I should listen to the Illuminae Files on audio as I have heard good things and sometimes audio works better for me than physical books, so I may need to try it that way.

      1. I liked that just as much as reading the first one. Maybe even more because of the way they were done.

  8. I loved Illuminae and Stalking Jack the Ripper. I hope you enjoy them too.

    1. Thanks, I’m glad to hear you loved both those series!

      1. You’re welcome.

  9. I’ve not read A Curse So Dark and Lonely because I’m not really a fantasy reader. But I love Kemmerer’s contemporaries so it’s long been on my radar.

    1. I remember really loving A Curse So Dark and Lonely, it felt like a nice blend of contemporary and fantasy. I hope you’ll love it if you decide to give it a try!

I read Stalking Jack the Ripper, but never read the rest of the series. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

    1. I hope we’ll both get to finish the Stalking Jack the Ripper series one day 🙂

  11. I also need to catch up on the Bridgerton books!

    1. Luckily we have some time before the next season of the TV show comes out 🙂

  12. Great list! I read and enjoyed Aurora Rising but haven’t finished the series. I even own the books. lol I like the idea of making it a challenge for next year. Some extra motivation to complete the series!

    1. Haha I’m the same with Aurora Rising 🙂 Hope we’ll both get to finish the series someday soon!

  13. I have not read any of these. Good luck with them all!

    1. Thanks a lot!

    1. Thanks so much!

  15. I have the same problem. I hate that feeling of not quite remembering what’s going on lol. I hope you get to continue w/ Illuminae though. Gemina is one of my favorite sF books.

    1. Yes, glad to hear I’m not the only one haha 🙂 Illuminae is definitely one of those series I hope to continue one day soon.

  16. I hope you love all these! The Illuminae books are really good on audio. They have sound effects and everything.

    1. Thanks! I’m definitely considering trying The Illuminae books on audio.

I’m really trying to catch up on series. I read the first three Stalking Jack books as ARCs, and I’ve re-read the first one as a finished version so now I want to re-read books 2 and 3 so I can FINALLY read book 4. Also, I read Nevernight, and now I need to re-read it because it’s been forever and read the rest.

    1. I definitely need to re-read Nevernight too before I can continue the series – it’s been too long and my memory is awful 🙂

Great list. The Illuminae Files series is really good. I hope you get around to finishing it. Many of these series are on my TBR.
    Here is my TTT: https://herseriallife.com/top-10-series-id-like-to-finish-before-2022-ends/
    Have a great week.

    1. Thanks! I really hope to get to the rest of The Illuminae Files series soon!

  19. I need to catch up on The Aurora Cycle too. Loved The Illuminae Files !

    1. Hope we’ll both get to catch up on The Aurora Cycle some day soon 🙂

  20. Yes! I totally get you on this. I keep telling myself not to even start a series until it’s complete and then I don’t listen to myself. LOL. That’s why I’m stuck in the middle of so many series.

I haven’t read any of these. Good luck with them all!

    Happy TTT (on a Thursday)!

    1. Haha, I know, those first books in series just sound so good and the wait can be so long 😀

  21. I’ve read all the Stalking Jack The Ripper books, to be honest, the first one was really the best one. I liked the third, but the fourth was kind of a letdown for me. I started the Cursebreakers series but I didn’t really like A Curse So Dark and Lonely, so I didn’t bother with the rest.
    My TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2022/11/08/top-ten-tuesday-393/

    1. Oh I’m sorry to hear about the Stalking Jack The Ripper series! I was actually more worried about liking book 3, since the setting felt so entirely different from books 1 and 2, but I’m glad to hear you liked that one and hopefully I’ll have better luck with book 4 then.

      1. I hope you do! If you like the romance stuff more than I do (which I think you probably do, based on what I’ve seen from your other TTTs), you’ll probably have more luck than me as my biggest problem with it was that it was so much about Audrey and Thomas’ relationship that the actual plot kind of fell by the wayside.

  22. I’ve read all of the Bridgerton books and they are so good, definitely recommend! x

    1. Glad to hear, I’m definitely planning to continue with the Bridgerton series – should be able to finish at least books 3 and 4 before the new season of the TV show comes out.
