WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday Header

“WWW” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Taking On A World of Words.

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new weekly meme! I was kind of juggling two memes on Wednesdays: Can’t Wait Wednesday (hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings) and Quote It Wednesday (my own topic), but I thought “Why not add a third one to the rotation?”. Because my inspiration for quotes especially is running a bit dry at the moment, so I don’t have enough quotes left to have one ready every second week. And honestly, I also don’t ALWAYS have that many books I can’t wait for either (I’ve gotten quite picky in my *ahem* old age). So once in a while I’ll be switching it up with a WWW Wednesday post from now on. And we’ll see which rotation between the posts will occur as I go along and pick between the three each week.

For this post, we’ll be answering three questions (the 3 Ws):

  1. What did you recently finish reading?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Just Finished Reading
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen

I just finished reading The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen and highly enjoyed this one!

I’m not even sure how I can begin to describe it though. It’s a romance. It’s a fantasy with zombie-like creatures. It is super sweet. It is kinda macabre. It’s cozy and whimsical and yet also gory at times. It’s feel-good but also may have you bawling a bit. Not many stories could pull of this many different vibes and yet still make so much sense. Basically, it’s one of a kind. I adored it!

Currently Reading
A Discovery of WItches by Deborah Harkness

I am currently listening to A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness on audiobook. Honestly, this book is so long, I’ve been listening to it for over a month already (to be fair, this is also taking so long because I mostly listen on my commute to work and had a few weeks off so didn’t listen as much).

I know this is a much-loved story so I’m sorry to anyone who adores this series, but I have been struggling a bit with it. It’s just so slow. I’ve been wanting to DNF for a bit, but I pushed through and now I’m enjoying the second half a lot more already, so hopefully this continues as I really want to like this story.

Blade and Rose by Miranda Honfleur

I just started Blade and Rose by Miranda Honfleur on ebook. This is the first book in the Blade and Rose series and I got this because there was a promotion in which the first 4 books in the series were free for a limited time.

I’m only on like chapter 5 by now, so I can’t say much about it yet, but it seems like a fun fantasy romance series. I’m not hooked yet, but I’m hoping that’ll happen soon.

Reading Next

I’m a huge mood reader, so by the time I finished my current reads I could be in the mood for something else entirely, but a few possibilities are:

  • Something Wilder by Christina Lauren, a backlist book I still need to read.
  • Written in Red by Anne Bishop – I read the first book on paperback years ago, but I never continued the serie, and I’m thinking of trying the entire series on audio.
  • The American Roommate Experiment by Elena Armas, a new release I’m excited about.
  • The Unbreakable Bladesong Druid by Annette Marie, an upcoming release and finale to a beloved series I’m super excited about.

  1. Something Wilder is on my TBR and I’m really looking forward to it!

    1. Hope it’ll live up to both our expectations!

  2. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of Hart and Mercy because I’ve heard so many amazing things about it! 😍 I read Discovery of Witches ages back when it first came out and things do (obvi) pick up but if it’s not working for you I’d DNF just cos it’s long and the other books aren’t any shorter, lol. 😂 I hope you enjoy all your reads!

    1. Hart and Mercy was sooo good, I hope you’ll love it too! I’m almost done with Discovery of Witches and I still want to try to continue, but I’m thinking I’ll read a few shorter books first as a sort of palate cleanser 🙂

  3. I know A Discovery of Witches is long but I really enjoyed it and the second book was actually my favorite. I loved it so much!

    1. I am enjoying the story overall, I’m just struggling a bit with the length. Glad to hear the second one is your favorite, I’m still planning to try it, just maybe after I read a few shorter books first 🙂

  4. I hope Witches continues to pick up. I like the concept of it but I’ve heard they’re kinda long, so I haven’t tried them yet- although I did think of trying the show, just to get the quick version. 🙂

Annette Marie’s books always look so fun.

    1. I’m almost at the end now and I like the story, but it may indeed be too long for me since I’m still struggling with that. Maybe I should indeed try the show instead 🙂

  5. I haven’t read Something Wilder. I’m curious to hear what you think of it.

    1. I hope to start it soon – I started The American Roommate Experiment and am planning to read Something Wilder after that.

  6. I really want to read A Discovery of Witches. I hope I don’t struggle with it like you. I guess I’ll see.

    1. I feel like I’m in the minority here since most people seem to love it. I like the story and I want to love it, but I’m struggling with the length. Hope you’ll have better luck if you try it!
