Mid Year Book Freakout Tag 2022

Hi everybody! We are officially in the second half of the year (when did that happen?) so it’s time again for the Mid Year Book Freakout Tag! This tag is created by ReadLikeWildfire and Ely Jayne

Though I’ve felt a little slumpy on and off this year, I still managed to do okay in my reading: at the moment I’ve read 39 books of my 2022 goal of 50. So not bad at all. I also wanted this year to be more chill, to rediscover my joy of reading so I’m trying not to stress about goals like amount of books read. I’m just focusing on having fun with my reading and so far that’s working πŸ™‚

So let’s just get started with this bookish freakout!

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2022.

Wolfsong was one of the first books I read this year and to this day it’s still my favorite. I fell in love with the world and the characters and the romance and immediately binged all other books in the series (which I loved just as much).

Wolfsong by TJ Klune

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2022.

HOW EPIC WAS THIS BOOK? I’m so excited for the finale in September now!!!

The Twice-Scorned Lady of Shadow by Annette Marie

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

I want to read all the Christina Lauren books, especially their latest release. It’s on my Kindle, I just need to get to it.

Something Wilder by Christina Lauren

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

Boyfriend Material was one of my favorite reads in 2020, so I am BEYOND EXCITED we’re getting a sequel and more Luc and Oliver <3

5. Biggest disappointment.

I started reading this series because I wanted to prepare for the TV adaptation but… I stopped after book two. I REALLY wanted to like this as I was in that YA summer romance mood and I loved Jenny Han’s To All The Boys trilogy. But I was so frustrated with all of these characters and neither love interest was likeable. I still hope I’ll like the show better though!

6. Biggest surprise.

I read a book that did not contain any dragons or romance and… I liked it?

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you)

I’d never read any Rachel Lynn Solomon before, but I LOVED See You Yesterday so much that I definitely need to check out more books by her.

See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

8. Newest fictional crush.

Charlie Lastra may be the perfect (fictional) man and that’s no lie.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

9. Newest favourite character.

Ox owns my heart. But so does every single other member of this pack. I love them all so much – BEST FOUND FAMILY EVER!

Wolfsong by TJ Klune

10. Book that made you cry.

No spoilers for this emotional rollercoaster, but I definitely sobbed a bit.

The No-Show by Beth O'Leary

11. Book that made you happy.

Last year, I chose F.T. Lukens’ In Deeper Waters for this section and this year I’m going with F.T. Lukens’ latest release. Their books just seem to feel like smiles and sunshine and I love that.

So This Is Ever After by F.T. Lukens

12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year.

HEARTSTOPPER ALL THE WAY, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
(Though Bridgerton Season 2 is a pretty close second!)

Heartstopper

13. Favourite review you’ve written this year.

Hmm, it’s not a book review and more of a show review, but I did the review post I did for Heartstopper? That and Young Royals were my biggest obsessions of the year and I love writing reviews when I’m obsessed πŸ™‚

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)

The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea is such a GORGEOUS book!

The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea by Axie Oh

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Sooo many, but here are just a few reads I NEED to read (both upcoming releases and backlist books I still need to get to)

The Unbreakable Bladesong Druid by Annette Marie Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood Running Wild by K.A. Tucker Never Been Kissed by Timothy Janovsky

I Tag You!
What are some of your favorites this year so far? And your most anticipated reads for the rest of the year?
