Monthly Wrap Up

June 2022: The Month I Obsessively Watched Two Of My Fave Shows (& Read An Actual Thriller Because Who Am I)

2022 Wrap up - June

Hi everybody, and welcome to my June wrap up!

I honestly can’t believe we are July already! And honestly, June has flown by so quickly and it feels like such a blur – I had trouble recalling everything I read, listened to and watched this month as it already feels so far away. But here’s what I do remember πŸ™‚

What I Read

See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Miles and Barrett have taken up their spot in my heart and they’re here to stay!

I highly recommend this book if you’re a fan of time-loop stories, amazing character development and a sweet slow-burn romance with so much chemistry and banter.

Places We’ve Never Been by Kasie West

I was craving a nice summery YA romance for a while and while I first tried the Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy last month, it unfortunately wasn’t what I was looking for. But this new Kasie West book hit all the right spots as it was everything I’ve been looking for: a fun summer adventure, road tripping, friends to lovers and family shenanigans.

The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa

I loved The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa and I was definitely eager to try her newest story. It features Solange, who is Lina’s cousin from The Worst Best Man. The story starts with her crashing a wedding when she realises the bride doesn’t really love the groom. Except the groom knew this as they had planned for a wedding of convenience. Lots of shenanigans ensue, among which several instances of fake dating, some axe throwing and a whole lot of family interventions (Solange’s Brazilian family is the best!).

The Best Men by Sarina Bowen and Lauren Blakely

The Best Men is a fun and addictive enemies-to-lovers romance between the best man and the other best man. That’s right, two best men who don’t like each other have to travel to Miami together to plan their sister/best friend’s wedding. Sounds amazing, right? It did to me! This was a really addictive read as the banter and chemistry between the two leads was hilarious. That said, I wasn’t personally a huge fan of the romance, but that’s definitely a me-thing as there was lust before there were any feelings and I just prefer romances where it’s the other way around.

The No-Show by Beth O’Leary

The No-Show may not be a rom-com, but what it IS is an emotionally beautiful and well-crafted story about love, friendship and moving forward. It’s best to go in blind and just let the plot take you on the rollercoaster ride it’s meant to do. The storytelling is amazing, and the plot is unpredictable and poignant. Highly recommend!

Wicked Beauty (Dark Olympus #3) by Katee Robert

I’ve been really loving every single installment in this Dark Olympus series and Wicked Beauty was no exception! This was a retelling of Helen of Troy, Achilles and Patroclus. Zeus organises a competition to declare the new Ares and whoever wins will also win the hand of Helen in marriage. However, Helen has no intention to become wife to Ares as she enters the competition herself. This was a fun and addictive read: the competition was exciting and I adored the chemistry between Helen, Achilles and Patroclus so much. Can’t wait for the next installment!

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

I READ A THRILLER Y’ALL! An actual book that did not include romance or dragons and I read it. And I quite liked it too. I was invested in the story and the characters and constantly guessing what could have happened. Will definitely be checking out more Lucy Foley and other thriller authors.

What I Listened To

My playlist this month contained a nice mix of genres and old favorites with new discoveries:

One OK Rock – Save Yourself

I love this band so much and I’m so happy they released a new song and have a new album coming out soon!

Charlie Puth ft Jung Kook – Left and Right

I know BTS had a new song releases this month, but I kind of liked this collaboration between Jung Kook and Charlie Puth more.

Sleeping With Sirens ft Spencer Chamberlain- Crosses

Another favorite band of mine returned with a new song and I am here for it. Crosses is quite heavy and that’s okay πŸ™‚

Stray Kids – Circus

You know a k-pop band is amazing when even their Japanese releases are complete bangers that are on repeat all month long.

Rina Sawayama – This Hell

Such a fun, catchy, poppy song that feels like the perfect anthem for Pride Month!

What I Watched

Stranger Things Season 4

At the moment I’m writing this I have only watched volume 1 and not yet volume 2, but I am planning to watch volume 2 the evening before this post goes live AND I AM TERRIFIED. I have loved volume 1 but I also love all these characters so much and I want them all to survive unscathed and happily and I am worried this will not happen.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3

Also here, I haven’t quite watched the final few episodes yet, but I’ve watched the biggest part of the season in June, so I’m counting it. And this was another hit! I love these characters so much and am happy to see them on my screen again. Loved the addition of the Sparrows to the mix, loved how they handled Viktor’s transition and I’ve gotta say, I think Diego has become my new fave character this season.

First Kill Season 1

I was really looking forward to this, but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. I really liked the chemistry between the two main leads and I think the story had a lot of potential, but the execution was not up too par. They tried to do too much at once and as a result the plot was unclear and all over the place. Read my full review here.

And also…

I watched a few episodes of a few shows: How I Met Your Father (love it, but then I’ve always had a small crush on Hilary Duff), Love, Viktor (love it and makes me want to re-read Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda), Only Murders in the Building (1 episode in and super intrigued already) and the k-drama Something in the Rain (a slow character-driven drama but I’m enjoying it so far).

Life Update

As I mentioned last month, June was another very busy month at work, but we are now summer and I’m expecting things to calm down a bit. I have 3 weeks off in August so I’m counting down ’till then (I’ve never had 3 whole consecutive weeks off before, so I’m really looking forward to it).

Things that made me happy this month:

  • My goddaughter’s first birthday party at the beginning of the month.
  • Lots of amazing TV!
  • The weather has been quite nice around here.

THINGS I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

  • One of my best friends is getting married!
  • I’m going to an Ed Sheeran concert together with my mother.

How was your June? What did you read? What did you listen to and what did you watch? What are you looking forward to in July?

Lindsey xoxo
