Some Of My Favorite Typography Covers

20220426 Some Of My Favorite Typography Covers

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s all about that cover game and while the overall majority of book covers on my shelves consists of illustrated covers, very busy covers with people and other story aspects on them, I do find I have a special fondness for the slightly more “simple” covers: less illustrations but with a higher focus on typography. They can be just as stunning as (or even more stunning than) all those flashy illustrated covers. Don’t get me wrong, I love those illustrated covers too, but today I’m putting the spotlights on some of my favorite typography covers.

  1. What a clever topic. I never would have thought of it. I considered flowers or a spring theme but then opted for weirdly awful classic covers My TTT is here. Please visit and comment. Thanks.

    1. Thanks! Oh, weirdly awful classic covers is such a fun take too, I’ll come and check it out.

  2. I adore a good typography cover! When used well, that can be one of the best kind of design elements. Stephanie’s is unique too with all the neon! Love that. 🙂

    1. Yes, indeed, you can already say so much just with a font 🙂

  3. They certainly can be just as stunning. I love the cover of Payback’s a Witch.

I love your intake on that topic! Font is very important to me when I make a design and on book covers!

    1. Thanks, Sophie! Font is indeed so crucial, and sometimes you don’t need much more than font to get the vibe of a book just right 🙂

Great list! I love your spin on this week’s prompt and the cover picks. Especially Ninth House, Gild and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which are among my favorite covers (and books) 😉😊

  7. I love a good use of a good font.

    1. So much can be said with font alone 🙂

    1. Simple can be beautiful too! 🙂

  8. Interesting idea! I usually gravitate towards more of a person or scenery cover, but I can see different moods projected in the different fonts.

    1. Most of my books probably have more illustrations too, but these types of covers do stand out to me as well 🙂

  9. I love these! Sometimes just having the title on the cover can be very striking, like the Addie LaRue cover. Love that font!

    1. Indeed, I love how such a “simple” cover like the Addie LaRue one can still be so fitting and beautiful.

  10. Awesome topic!! Absolutely, I agree! These can make a huge impact and sometimes less is more. 😊

    My Top Ten!

    1. Thanks and so true, less is more sometimes 🙂

    1. Haha, the cover is just so pretty it fits in pretty much any cover topic 🙂

  13. Ooo! Love what you did here with the topic. I love covers like this. Sometimes all you need is words. Another I would add to your list (which includes awesome covers like Dear Aaron!) is the original Bright Side cover by Kim Holden.

    1. Oh I looked up the Bright Side cover and you’re so right, it would fit in perfectly! It sounds like a great book too, though an absolute tearjerker.

      1. Oh Bright Side is so good. You need to read it. Just have those tissues ready.

  14. I love the covers you chose. I’m a sucker for pretty typography too. My favorite of the books you picked is The Best Kind of Magic. It draws me right in. 🙂

    1. Pretty typography makes for awesome book covers 🙂 The Best Kind of Magic is one of my faves too!

The Sound of Stars has me sitting here all 😲
I LOVE the Illuminae covers (and also the books!! I really do want to reread them every time I see them 😂)
    Happy Reading! <3

    1. They are indeed so beautiful, but The Sound of Stars is definitely my favorite of all!

  18. Hi Lindsey! This was actually my first brainwave for this week’s challenge, but then I changed my mind. Glad to see someone else at least ran with it!

    1. Haha, great minds think alike, right 😉

  19. Great take on the prompt, Lindsey. I love typography on covers and it’s always an instant draw for me. I’ve always loved The Upside of Unrequited. And Dear Aaron is gorgeous.

    1. Thanks, Tanya! Dear Aaron is indeed such a gorgeous cover (and story)!

  20. I feel the same way! I love a good typography cover. Sometimes they’re more eye-catching than covers with a scene on them.

    1. Definitely! I do love illustrated covers too, but there are so many of those that these type of typography covers tend to stand out more to me 🙂

  21. That’s a very interesting theme! I have to say, I like Illuminae cover best from this list, and I hear it is an epistolary scifi book.

    1. Illuminae was definitely quite unique in cover and in story format!

  22. I have to admit, I don’t have many covers with typography as the focus, my personal favourite kind of cover is illustrated ones, I just think they’re so pretty. I have to admit, I don’t pay a massive amount of attention to font on book covers but your list has me thinking maybe I should as these are all very pretty!

Brilliant choice, Lindsey. I think all of us bloggers love different fonts. So many good ones. Thanks.

    1. Typography covers can be so great! And hope you’ll enjoy Ninth House when you try it 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend too!

  25. I’ve always loved the Queens of Geek cover, but I really like the Neon Light Look of There’s Someone inside your house

    1. Me too, the neon gives it such an eerie vibe 🙂

  26. These are all such great covers! I remember disliking the Addie one when I first saw it but hen it grew on me and now I love it, lol.

    1. I get what you mean, the cover felt so simple to me at first but once I read the book it felt so perfect.
