Classic Lindsey – The Books That Are So Me, They’re Widely (Not Really) Considered Classic Lindsey

20220329 Classic Lindsey

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s topic was originally ’21st Century Books I Think Will Become Classics’ and while I LOVE this idea and will definitely check out other posts, I wasn’t feeling inspired myself. Maybe because I mostly read fantasy, romances and fantasy romances and while I adore those books, I doubt they will become classics (though perhaps this idea of a ‘classic’ is a little outdated, but that’s a discussion for another time).

So instead I twisted the topic to become: books that are CLASSIC LINDSEY. Yes, these are the books that are classics TO ME, either because they feel so much like me, or because they’ve become so ingrained in my life I can’t imagine myself without them. Like, if someone wanted to get to know me, I’d make them read these books.

So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Classic Lindsey

Red Winter by Annette Marie – my absolute favorite, love the Japanese mythology, started my Annette Marie obsession, re-read it yearly and still sob and swoon every time

Taming Demons for Beginners by Annette Marie – two Annette Marie books on this list? Classic Lindsey. Main character is a shy booknerd who hates conflict and loves cookies

Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata – another shy heroine that hates conflict and has self-confidence issues. Also, pen pal romances are the best type of romances

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune – Linus Baker may be a 40-year old gay man and I am not, but other than that we share MANY similarities. Also, found families own my heart. And TJ Klune may be the author who best matches my own brand of humor.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas – my favorite SJM, I want to live in Velaris please, the Court of Dreamers is where I belong, also yay for the Hades/Persephone inspirations

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – girl with social anxiety who prefers fictional worlds over the real one? Yeah, this is about as Classic Lindsey as it’ll get.

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann – Alice is another character that I relate to on SO MANY levels, okay?

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson – I think about becoming a sword-wielding bad-ass librarian whose mission it is to protect the books too much.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo – part of me may consist of fluffy fairytales, but the other part relates more to this book: dark, intrigue and a lot of feminism.

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost – I may not personally relate to bad-ass, vampire-hunting Cat Crawfield, but if there’s one TV Show that would be Classic Lindsey it would be Buffy The Vampire as it has consumed my entire youth, and this amazing series hits ALL THOSE SPOTS to me too.

Tell Me:
What’s a book that would be Classic You? Any we have in common?

Lindsey xoxo

    1. Thanks! The House in the Cerulean Sea is such an amazing book, I’m happy to see it on many lists this week!

  8. I love the way you twisted this, I wish I’d thought of it! I’m definitely borrowing it next time I’m not feeling the assigned topic. I’ve read two of these, A Court of Mist and Fury and Ninth House, both of which I enjoyed. Sorcery of Thorns fell victim to my slump last year, which was a shame as I was enjoying it and I was only a few chapters from the end, I’m hoping to finish it at some point this year.

    1. Thanks! Oh, slumps really do suck, I hope it’s going better now!

      1. It is, thank you!

  9. I love this take. I know what you mean, it’s kinda hard to know what will be a classic when the types of books you enjoy aren’t considered classics…yet.

    1. Thanks! And indeed, this was a tough topic, but a fun one!

    1. It was indeed a tough topic! So glad you also love Fangirl and Ninth House and hope you’ll enjoy the others if you decide to try them!

That is a nice twist, Lindsey. And I’ve even seen a few of the books on other people’s lists, so some of them might very well become classics.
