Books I’d Want With Me While Stranded On a Deserted Island (AKA Finally Some Time To Binge These Series!)

20210727 Books I’d Want With Me While Stranded On a Deserted Island

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today we’re talking about the books we would want if we were stranded on a deserted island. Now, assuming that I could not take books like How To Escape A Deserted Island For Dummies or How to Build Your Own Boat from Scratch with me (which would obviously be the most handy in that kind of situation), I’d want to use the opportunity to finally dive into some series I’ve been wanting to start for ages. Because at least, on a deserted island, I’ll have some time, right? (Probably not, because I’d be busy trying to survive and find food and shelter, but we’re imagining a very chill, not at all dangerous deserted island with food aplenty for this exercise, okay?)

The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty

The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

The Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden

The Sidekick Squad by C.B Lee

The All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness

The Air Awakens series by Elise Kova

The Diviners series by Libba Bray

Tell Me:
Have you read any of these? Would they be excellent deserted island reads?

  1. Pretty sure the only deserted island life I’d survive is a non dangerous one. 😉 YAY for some binge reading time!

    1. Haha, same 😀 Binge reading series is difficult, but can be so amazing!

  2. Great list! The Daevabad Trilogy and The Diviners series are both so good.

    1. I heard so many great things about them!

  3. I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve always loved the covers on The Diviners series.

I am curious about The Sidekick Squad books. And I’ve read the first three of The Diviners books, and they are hefty, but so good!

    1. I’m glad you liked The Diviners books so far, I hope to be able to start them soonish 🙂

If I wasn’t only taking books to reread with me to my deserted island I would also bring The City of Brass and The Poppy War, the whole trilogies of course! Also, the All Souls trilogy is one of my favorites. 😍

    1. Oh, re-reading is so much fun too! I definitely hope to binge the All Souls Trilogy some time soon though, deserted island or not 😀

  6. YES! A deserted island would be a perfect place to read a series. I have the first few Diviners books on my shelf. They were a Christmas gift that I haven’t had time to read. They’re thick books!

    1. Oh I hope we’ll both get a chance to read that series some day – they sound so good.

  7. Picking series is a great idea. You could really dive into these worlds!

At least three of your series are big favorite of mine! The City of Brass, The Poppy War and A Discovery of Witches

    1. I’m glad to hear they are your favorites, Sophie! Can’t wait to dive in 🙂

  9. Definitely a good time to catch up on a series! I loved Arden’s trilogy. I’ve read the first two Poppy War books and City of Brass, but haven’t had time for the others. Tasha Suri’s series is also excellent if you like those. I haven’t heard of The Air Awakens series but now I’ll check those out.

    1. I’ve heard so many good things about Tasha Suri’s series, it’s definitely going on my TBR 🙂

  10. Even if you don’t find yourself on a deserted island, I hope you find time to get to these series. I haven’t read them, but I’ve heard good things.

    1. Thanks, I hope to create a kind of deserted island-feel during my holidays so I can binge-read a bit 🙂

  11. A nice, safe deserted island would be the perfect setting for binging a great series or two. Or ten.

    Happy TTT!

    1. Series would indeed be amazing island reads 🙂

  14. Love your spin on this week’s topics. I want to binge several of these series too, especially the first two on your list, but never seem to find the time.

    1. Indeed, series can be so fun, but also so time-consuming! A deserted island getaway would be perfect for series haha 🙂

  15. Marianne Maurer says:

    My TTT.
