Can't Wait Wednesday - Winter's Orbit

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, which encourages fellow bloggers to spotlight upcoming releases that we’re excited about.  However, as Jill is no longer actively posting, from now on I’ll be linking to Can’t Wait Wednesday, hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings, which is a spinoff of the original WoW meme.

Ancillary Justice meets Red, White & Royal Blue in Everina Maxwell’s exciting debut.

While the Iskat Empire has long dominated the system through treaties and political alliances, several planets, including Thea, have begun to chafe under Iskat’s rule. When tragedy befalls Imperial Prince Taam, his Thean widower, Jainan, is rushed into an arranged marriage with Taam’s cousin, the disreputable Kiem, in a bid to keep the rising hostilities between the two worlds under control.

But when it comes to light that Prince Taam’s death may not have been an accident, and that Jainan himself may be a suspect, the unlikely pair must overcome their misgivings and learn to trust one another as they navigate the perils of the Iskat court, try to solve a murder, and prevent an interplanetary war… all while dealing with their growing feelings for each other.

I think this debut may have quickly become my most anticipated 2021 release! In this queer romantic space opera, a scandal-prone prince and a dutiful scholar are forced into a political marriage and are trying to prevent an interplanetary war. I’m thinking it sounds like the perfect mix between Red White and Royal Blue and Bonds of Brass, two of my faves!

Tell Me:
Will you be reading this book?

  2. I’ve been slacking on scifi this year. I only read one so wanna read more in 2021 because it’s one of my favorite genres. Gonna keep an eye out on this one!

    1. Same, I think I only read ONE SF in 2020, even though I’m constantly saying I want to read more…
Hoping to do better in 2021 though and this one is high on my list 🙂

  3. Not heard of this one, adding it to my list to check out.

    1. Hope you’ll like this one 🙂

  4. Sounds good! I used to read a ton of SF but have really slacked on that lately… hoping to correct that in 2021!
