Help Me Remember — Books I’ve Added To My TBR & Forgotten Why {Top Ten Tuesday}

20200609 Books I've Added To My TBR & Forgotten Why

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

I’m a forgetful person. Well, of some things anyway. But I didn’t think I was forgetful of books. So when we first got the prompt for this week’s topic, ‘Books I’ve added to my TBR and forgotten why’, I thought “Pffft, who forgets why they put a book on their TBR?” I mean, I add books to my TBR because they seem interesting, right? Why would I forget that?

But then I went through my Goodreads TBR shelf and whaddayaknow? Though, yes, I can still recall why I added most books (they sounded good, or were recommended by someone, or pretty cover, or auto-buy author…), some of these books actually ring no bell at all. Like, I don’t recognize the cover or the author. Like, at all. Like, I’m suspecting somebody else added them to my TBR…

Now, PROBABLY (and more likely than someone hacking my Goodreads TBR shelf just to mess with me), I saw all of these books recommended by a blogger friend at one point or another over the past 3 years and added them to my TBR. And I could probably figure out more by checking the Goodreads review…

But for now, I’m presenting them to you here. Have you read or heard about any of these books? Perhaps you have raved about them somewhere in the last 3 years? Let me know! Based on your feedback, I may or may not remove these from my TBR after all…

Incanta Soul-Catcher by Avie Adams Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne No Ordinary Star by MC Frank

Hunter by Mercedes Lackey Beneath The Haunting Sea by Joanna Ruth Meyer The Demon Race by Alexandria Warwick

Demons at Deadnight by A Kirk Courting Darkness by Robin LaFevers A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn

Tell Me:
Have you read any of these? Is there a possibility you recommended them? Should I definitely read one or more of these?

Lindsey xoxo

  1. The Raybourn books I do kinda want to try, only because I’ve heard so many good things about them. And I did like the LaFevers book I tried. The rest of these I don’t know but some of them look pretty good! Nice covers.

    1. Thanks! I’ll definitely need to check out the Raybourn and LaFevers books and keep them on my TBR then 🙂

  2. The Demon Road is a fun book!

    1. Thanks, I’ll be sure to keep it on my TBR!

  3. Great list! I haven’t heard of the majority of these, but I really enjoyed the His Fair Assassin series so I’d like to give Courting Darkness a try at some point.

    1. Thanks! Yeah, I should probably try the His Fair Assassin series then, before I consider removing Courting Darkness from my TBR 🙂

  4. I have not seen any of those books before, so I couldn’t possibly recommend any. But I’m sure you’ll find there are some books that you will enjoy, even if you bought them more than ten years ago.

    My TTT.

    1. Thanks!

  5. I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve always loved the cover on A Curious Beginning!

    1. It is a good cover!

  6. I recognize MOST of these, but alas, I have not read any of them. I get most recommendations from blogs, so I figure that’s where I see about 80% of the books I add to Goodreads, but I don’t always remember where or why. haha

    1. Haha, glad to hear I’m not the only one! Yeah, I probably added them because of other blogs as well, but when I don’t remember why I added them it makes me doubt whether or not I should still read the book. Which is a pity because they could still be great!

  7. I haven’t read any of these—and I only recognize A Curious Beginning and Brightly Burning—but they all have beautiful covers!

    1. Those two books definitely seem to be the best known so I’ll keep them on my TBR – but all the covers indeed look beautiful!

  8. I was surprised how many books on my GR shelf didn’t ring a bell either because I thought the same thing you did. How could I possibly forget? Joke’s on us, lol I think I’ve read a couple of the ones from your list, Courting Darkness and Brightly Burning, but I think they were both just okay reads for me.

    1. Haha yeah, I really thought I knew my TBR, or at the very least every book would ring a bell but guess not 🙂 I think I’ll keep Courting Darkness and Brightly Burning, but I fear they will just stay on my TBR indefinitely since they’re not popping out at me either…
