Ten Fictional Settings I’d Love To Visit {Top Ten Tuesday}

171205 Fictional Settings I'd Love To Visit

Hosted by The Broke & The Bookish

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

One of the (many) joys of reading is being able to discover so many beautiful new places, without even having to set a foot outside the door. However, sometimes the places just sound so absolutely wonderful that we wish they could be real so we could visit them (maybe even live there) for real. For me, that’s totally the case for the following ten settings from books, movies, or tv:

Books I’m Forever Thankful For {Top Ten Tuesday}

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

In honor of Thanksgiving week in the US, today is all about being thankful. More specifically, what books we are thankful for.

Now, I’m thankful for a lot of books. For lots of reasons. So narrowing this down was… tough. I decided to split it into categories as to why I am thankful for a book in particular, which came a little easier for me. But I would just like to note that some of these books definitely fit into more than one categorie. And I am probably forgetting a lot of books as well. But anyway, here it goes!

Book Recommendations For Casual Readers {Top Ten Tuesday}

170815 recs for casual readers

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s post is all about recommendations, and I specifically want to talk about books I’d recommend to casual readers. What do I mean by casual readers? I mean those people who pick up a book maybe two to three times a year (probably on their vacation). The readers who like reading, but don’t consider it a favorite way to pass the time. Most people I know IRL are either non-reader, or a casual reader. So if they don’t read that many books, I’d still recommend them to read these books below.

Let’s be real, if you’re reading my blog, you’re most likely a fellow bookworm. And I LOVE recommending books to my fellow bookworms and getting recommendations back. But the chances that I can recommend a book to one of you fellow bookworms that you a) haven’t heard of yet or b) haven’t already read yourself are pretty slim. It doesn’t always have the same satisfaction as recommending a book to a casual reader and having them fall absolutely head over heels in love with it.

So this is my recommendation post for all you casual readers out there! (And of course I secretly do hope one of these will turn you in a super bookworm…)

Top Ten Fictional Character Crushes {Top Ten Tuesday}

170228 TTT Fictional Crushes

Hosted by The Broke & The Bookish

Hi guys, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday! Today’s a freebie, so I thought I’d take this time to talk about some of my all-time favorite fictional character crushes!

One of the most important things for me when reading a book or hearing a story are the characters. I crush on fictional characters all the time. In fact, if I don’t fall in love with any of the characters, chances are I don’t like the book as much, no matter the writing or plot. I NEED to feel things for the characters. I NEED to fall in love with them for some reason. I NEED to be thinking about certain characters long after finishing the book or turning off the tv.

So, while this list is soo much longer than ten (but hey, we’ve got to start somewhere), I give you a list of the first ten characters that came to mind when I thought about fictional crushes. This list will contain characters from books as well as from TV or movies. And, to limit myself a bit more, I chose only one character per series, though this was quite hard in some cases as well.

So without further ado, let’s get started!

My rating in words: NEW ALL-TIME FAVORITE!

What it’s about:

It has been four months since a mysterious obsidian stone fell into Kell’s possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Prince Rhy was wounded, and since the nefarious Dane twins of White London fell, and four months since the stone was cast with Holland’s dying body through the rift–back into Black London.

Now, restless after having given up his smuggling habit, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks as she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games–an extravagant international competition of magic meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries–a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

And while Red London is caught up in the pageantry and thrills of the Games, another London is coming back to life. After all, a shadow that was gone in the night will reappear in the morning. But the balance of magic is ever perilous, and for one city to flourish, another London must fall.

Series I Still Want To Finish / Catch Up With Before The End Of The Year

to-finish-2016

Let’s celebrate! Last week I officially reached my Goodreads goal of reading 70 books in 2016. Yay! So, with that challenge complete and still a whole month to go before the end of the year, I figured I’d set myself another challenge. Why don’t I try to finally finish and/or catch up with some series that have been on my TBR for too long already?

Also, I actually wanted to read some of these books already for the Tome Topple Readathon, but that readathon started November 19th and I haven’t started any book yet so I kind of failed  big time there. But hey, I figure that if I still read them before the end of the year, it’s still ok-ish…

So without further ado, this is my rather ambitious TBR list for the rest of the year:
