When The Struggle Is Real… The Nine Times I Had A Book Hangover In The Last Year {Top Ten Tuesday}

20200218 The Nine Times I Had A Book Hangover

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s all about book hangovers. So first of all, what’s a book hangover? (she asks as if we don’t all suffer from this affliction on a monthly basis)

I’m going with the below definition for this post, namely a book hangover is the inability to start a new book because you’re still living in the last book’s world.

Book Hangover

So while sometimes book hangovers can last weeks or even months, a small book hangover is still a book hangover. And boy, do I have a lot of small book hangovers. I often struggle with starting a new book because I JUST DON’T WANT TO LEAVE MY LAST READ’S WORLD JUST YET. And when I say often, I mean about 9 times a year, because I checked all my book hangovers of the past year and hey, I have nine examples for you!

January 2020: The Month That Lasted A Year {Monthly Wrap Up}

January wrap up

Hi everybody, and welcome to my January wrap up!

I don’t want to add to the thousands of people and memes saying that January took forever, but really though… January took FOREVER! I do think that the months of January and February usually are the worst months of the year – it’s dark, it’s cold, the excitement about the holidays is over. But that just means we have to focus on all the good things some more, don’t we? And the good thing is that I actually got quite some reading done in January, which I’m happy about. And I got back into blogging, after 1-2 months of semi-hiatus. (I realize I never did a post announcing my return but oh well… HERE I AM!) So pretty good right?

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to in January:

My rating in stars: 5 stars
My rating in words: New all-time favorite

WHAT IT’S ABOUT:

I’ve said it before, but sometimes I’m a bad person. I cheated on my twelfth grade math final, I’ve run countless yellow lights, and I gossip about how hot my kickass best friends are. (Good thing my job as a guild bartender doesn’t require moral perfection.)

But there’s bad, and then there’s bad. And I’m not sure which applies to a certain dark druid/wanted criminal/reluctant friend of mine. His transgressions include black-magic dealings, kidnapping, and murder, and he’s about to add “revenge-fueled killing spree” to his resumeā€”if I don’t stop him.

Should I stop him?

He and his nemesis are gearing up to tear each other apart, rogues and vultures are converging with their sights on the spoils, and the guilds that would normally stomp them into the ground are under attack. We’re on the brink of an all-out criminal turf war, and my time to decide is almost up.

Who’s the real bad guy … and do I dare stand in his way?
