Calendar Girls – November 2018 – Not Quite the End: Favorite Middle Book in a Series

Calendar Girls

The Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event that was created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now hosted by Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads, and Katie at Never Not Reading. It was inspired by the 1961 classic song by Neil Sedaka and created to ignite fun bookish discussions among readers and bloggers.

So, just like the song, each month a new theme is chosen (participants will get to vote between two choices), and participating bloggers get to choose their favorite book within the theme, or the book they think best fits the theme, to talk about in a blog post on the first Monday of each month.

Holy Plot Twist Batman! — Books That Surprised Me {Top Ten Tuesday}

Welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Reading a lot has many benefits. You learn a lot, you travel the world without leaving your couch, you make lots of fictional friends and you get to fall in love with so many different worlds. I would say there are no downsides to reading a lot… except maybe that after a while, you’ll become better and better at predicting the way the plot will go. The journey is still fun, but it’s not always fun when you can already predict most of the plot 20% into the book.

Luckily, this is not always the case. Some books still manage to surprise me. Some things I did not see coming AT ALL. And I love it when this happens. Of course what surprises me, may not surprise you, or vice versa. But here are some of the books that surprised me in some way.

Note: this post does not contain any actual spoilers, meaning I will not say what exactly surprised me (like: character X died, or X and Y got together, or THIS THING happened). However, if you consider the fact of a book having a plot twist to be a spoiler or to lessen your enjoyment of the book in any way, then I advise you to not continue reading this post.

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Also, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Halloween’s by far my favorite day of the year (which doesn’t even have anything to do with that small fact that it’s also my birthday…) and even though I’m working today, I’m planning on spending a cozy Halloween night in front of my tv with lots of candy and a Stranger Things binge-watch session. (#heaven).

But of course I also love the Halloween related blog topics during the Halloween season (yes, it’s a season). Today’s topic is a Halloween freebie and I decided to bring back one of my old faves: supernatural creatures, or creatures of the night! (inspired by the Creatures of the Night book tag by Katytastic)

To be fair, I’m a bit behind on books featuring supernatural creatures lately, but just making this list has got me in the mood again. So please, give me all your recommendations for great books featuring some of those creatures of the night!

In the meantime, here are some of mine:

Hi guys, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday. Today is a topic that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now, and that is… quotes!

I’ve always loved quotes. When I was younger I kept a little quote book where I wrote down all the quotes that meant something to me. That could be anything from lyrics to movie or tv quotes, to book quotes. It could be inspirational, moving, relatable or funny. Just, beautiful words put together to make beautiful quotes.

So that’s the post for today. Quotes. Of course these are not all of them, because I could never choose just ten favorites. So these are just a completely random selection of ten bookish quotes I love. Who knows, maybe I could make this into a more regular feature. Anyway, enjoy!

The 2016 End of Year Book Survey

2016-end-of-year-book-survey

Hi guys! Since it’s the end of the year, I thought it would be fun to do a sort of survey summarizing the year. Because just listing my favorites does not seem enough somehow, and you know is pretty much impossible anyway

This survey is hosted by Jamie at The Perpetual Page Turner. All banners below are also hers.

Fangirl Alert – My Favorite Books Of 2016 {Top Ten Tuesday}

161227-2016-favorites

Hosted by The Broke & The Bookish

Well, what do you know. As bad a year as 2016 has been, I can honestly say I’ve read a ton of amazing books. The reading year has been the absolute best.

So… HOW DO YOU EVER EXPECT ME TO PICK ONLY TEN? You can’t. I can’t. So I didn’t. Also, I totally cheated and included complete series. Because I often binge-read complete series and HOW COULD ANYONE EXPECT ME TO PICK JUST ONE OF THEM?

So anyway, these are the books I’ve read in 2016 (not all released in 2016 because I am way behind on books and will forever be catching up) that I enjoyed the most. In no particular order.

Warning: fangirling and excessive capslock may occur.
