Top Ten Tuesday

Books That Were So Addictively Readable I Read Them In 1 Day

20210720 Books Read In 1 Day

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today we’re talking about books we read in one sitting. But reading a book in one sitting is pretty rare for me (unless it’s a comic or short graphic novel). So I chose to interpret one sitting as ‘more or less within 24 hours’. Now that’s doable for me!

And honestly, I LOVE when this happens. It means a story is so addictively readable that I can’t put it down. That it’s on my mind so much whenever I’m not reading it, that I take every chance I get to pick it back up and continue. AND that the story just feels so alive because I can consume it in a short time without too many breaks. Though to be fair, it doesn’t mean the book is an automatic 5 stars. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. But one thing is sure, it was an amazing ride!

The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren

  1. I read Cemetery Boys and Red White and Royal Blue and only didn’t read them in one sitting because I couldn’t (with kids and family at the time, too many interruptions)

    1. It is so rare indeed to be able to read uninterrupted, and I’m sure with kids it’s practically impossible!

  2. Great list! I’ve not read any of them but I do have Where the Crawdads Sing and Red, White and Royal Blue on my TBR so it’s nice to see that they are quick reads.

    1. They are indeed! Hope you’ll enjoy them when you pick them up!

  3. The Kiss Quotient has made it on my list as well! Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/romance-books-to-read-in-one-sitting/

    1. Yay for The Kiss Quotient, it was such a fun read!

  4. Great list! The Kiss Quotient made my list this week, too, and I had a lot of fun with Cemetery Boys.

    1. The Kiss Quotient is indeed such a great book to read in one siting!

  5. Where the Crawdads sing is on my summer TBR, so I should be starting that soon, glad to hear it was easy to read! My TTT: https://readingwithkat.wordpress.com/2021/07/20/top-ten-books-i-read-in-one-sitting/

    1. Hope you’ll enjoy Where The Crawdads Sing! It was super easily readable, and I wasn’t expecting to fly right through it but I did 🙂

  6. I’m glad you enjoyed Cemetery Boys so much. I still need to read that one.

Where the Crawdads Sing and Cemetery Boys + Red, White & Royal Blue are on my wishlist so I’m curious now if they also would be read in one day worthy for me too.

    1. I hope you’ll enjoy those reads, whether it’ll be in one day or several 🙂

  8. I’ve not read any of these. I don’t think I’ve ever read any book in one day, I’ve read comics in short sittings, but actual books, the shortest I’ve ever done is two days.

    1. It is so rare to be able to read a book in one day indeed! It happened only a few times for me, when there’s a day when I have nothing to do but read, zero interruptions AND the mood is right too. But it’s fun when it does happen 🙂

      1. Yes, so many things have to go right for me to be able to finish a book in a day and most of the time I have too much else to do!

Great list of books! I have Where the Crawdads Sing and Cemetery Boys on my TBR.

When you get the chance, I hope you can check out my TTT post: https://readbakecreate.com/10-books-with-the-word-day/

    1. Thanks! Hope you’ll enjoy Where the Crawdads Sing and Cemetery Boys!

Where the Crawdads sing was a wonderful book. I didn’t finish it in one sitting though. I’m better with physical books with one sitting reads than with audible and I listened to it.

Still want to read Cemetery Boys!

Elza Reads – Ten one sitting reads

    1. Oh me too! I only listen to audiobooks in the car or while doing house chores, so I don’t think I could finish an audiobook in one sitting either. Hope you’ll enjoy Cemetery Boys!

  11. I generally find Christina Lauren’s books to be very quick reads, because they’re all so good, I want to keep reading!

    1. Yes, I love that about Christina Lauren books!

  12. “The Hating Game” has been on my shelf for quite a while, and still I haven’t read it. Maybe someday I will but until then, I’m glad to see so many still enjoy it! 🙂

    1. I hope you’ll enjoy The Hating Game when you decide to pick it up 🙂

  13. Agreed! Just because I raced through a book to finish doesn’t mean I automatically love it. A book can definitely be gripping without being satisfying.

    Happy TTT!

    1. Yes, exactly! I love gripping books, but that doesn’t mean they’re satisfying.

  14. I forgot about Where the Crawdads Sing but that was one I couldn’t put down either. Something about it was almost mesmerizing.

    1. It was indeed so mesmerizing, I wasn’t expecting to finish it in a day, but it was just so hard to put down.
