Top Ten Tuesday

Older Favorites That I Really Want To Re-Read

20201201 Re-Reads

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s all about re-reads, and the timing is perfect, because usually around the end of the year I get in the mood to revisit some old favorites. To me, it just fits perfectly into the Christmas spirit and getting cozy with an old favorite and revisiting that old magic seems like the perfect way to spend the season!

Last year in December I re-read Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston and the entire Captive Prince trilogy by CS Pacat.

This year, I have a lot of old favorites on my want-to-re-read list:

The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary (read June 2019)
This was one of my favorite reads of last year and I already want a re-read!

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren (read June 2018)
I LOVE THIS BOOK!

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (read November 2018)
I need to re-read, partly because I love it, partly because I want to get ready for the Quan book coming next year.

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum (read February 2017)
This had pen pal romance, word nerds and waffles. All things I love and want to revisit.

The Red Winter trilogy by Annette Marie (read end 2016 / early 2017)
Now that I’m done with The Guild Codex: Spellbound and Demonized, I want to re-read the other Annette Marie series, starting with my all-time favorite and series that started my Annette Marie craze.

The Steel and Stone series by Annette Marie (read late 2017)
More Annette Marie re-reads, I want to re-read this series in preparation for Blackfire coming next year!

The Spell Weaver trilogy by Annette Marie (read early 2018)
And also in preparation of Blackfire, I want to revisit my favorite incubus.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (read December 2016)
I re-read this several time in 2017, but I need a new re-read of this rom-com that’s another all-time-favorite (and wasn’t there a movie in production?)

The Deal by Elle Kennedy (read August 2016)
It’s been too long since I read the entire Off-Campus series, but I seem to remember The Deal was my favorite in that series, so I want to re-read.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (read September 2016)
I actually just re-read this one AND A Torch Against The Night so I can dive into A Reaper at the Gates and then immediately read A Sky Beyond the Storm when it is released.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (read November 2015)
I used to love this story, and I’m eager to see if I’d still love it as much if I re-read it today.

The Under the Never Sky series by Veronica Rossi (read 2014-ish)
This series was one of my original obsessions around the time I first got into YA fantasy and dystopian and I really want to re-read it again and revisit that magic!

  1. I never got around to reading Under the Never Sky at the time. I don’t know if I ever will even though I really wanted to for a while.

    1. Under The Never Sky was indeed quite big back in those days – I remember loving it a lot back then, but it’s been so long since I read them that I do wonder whether I’d still love them as much now… Only one way to find out though 😀

  2. Great list! I feel like I say it every time I come to your blog, but I really need to try Annette Marie’s work. I want to give An Ember in the Ashes a try, too!

    1. Haha that’s okay, I feel like I have to mention Annette Marie books in every single post, it’s a slight obsession 🙂 Hope you’ll love her books though when you give them a try, as well as An Ember in the Ashes!

  3. Ohhh, I spy some GREAT books. I hope you have fun re-reading these books!

    1. Thanks, I’m definitely way too excited about re-reading these haha 🙂

  4. I would love to re-read An Ember in the Ashes too. Especially because I never continued the series but I want to.

    1. Same! I only read the first two books and then never continued, but I’m happy I re-read them now so I can binge the entire series 🙂 Hope you’ll love them too if you decide to re-read and then continue!

  5. I definitely need to read Elle Kennedy at some point!

    1. I’ve only read her Off-Campus series and loved that, so definitely need to try more by her as well! (but first, a re-read 😉 )

I’ve heard good things about Anna and the French Kiss.

    My post.

    1. I loved it so many years ago when I first read and I’m curious to see whether I’ll still love it upon re-read 🙂

  7. I rarely re-read books, although I do understand the cozy feeling of re-reading old favorites. That’s probably one of the reasons I re-read A CHRISTMAS CAROL every year in December 🙂

    Happy TTT!

    1. That’s a great re-reading tradition though! 🙂

  8. The Flatshare–swoony! Loved it and I’m loving her new one, The Switch, right now on audio. Just as good (I’m half-way through it).

    1. The Flatshare was indeed so swoony! I loved the Switch too – hope you’ll enjoy the last half as well!

      1. I’m eager for my drive home tonight so I can listen to more!

I do love re-reading books here and there. I wish I had more time. I haven’t read Anna and the French Kiss in YEARS. I loved it though.

    1. Same! I do wonder if I’ll still love Anna and the French Kiss so many years later – guess I’ll need to read and find out 😀

  10. I absolutely loved The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test – and a re-read in time for the Quan novel releasing sounds like a plan I’ll need to jump on board with!

An Ember in the Ashes is one of those ones I keep going back and forth about picking it up. It’s so hyped that I’m scared of being disappointed at this point??

    1. I’m so excited for the Quan novel! A re-read would be perfect to get ready for it 🙂
An Ember in the Ashes seems to be either a hit or a miss with people. It was a hit for me, so I would recommend 🙂 Hope you do enjoy it if you give it a try!

  11. I rarely reread, but The Deal is one I have done. It’s just as good that second time around. I would even reread it a third time.

    1. I’m definitely excited to re-read The Deal – it’s been so long since I read it and I did forget a lot, so I think it’ll feel brand new and I’ll fall in love all over again 🙂

  12. I really need to make more time for rereading. I always enjoy it when I do. And there are a couple here that I’ve actually been meaning to reread: Autoboyography and The Deal.

    1. I know, me too! I always want to re-read more, but I often get distracted by shiny new releases. Autoboyography and The Deal were amazing and I can’t wait to revisit those stories and characters.

  13. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader says:

Chase the Dark, red Winter, The Deal, under the never Sky …are all books that I adored!

    1. Yay for a fellow Annette Marie fan! 😉 The Deal and Under The Never Sky were such nice books, I’d love to re-read!

  14. The Hating Game is such a fun read, and it’s been 6 years since I read Anna and the French Kiss? seems so long ago. Hope you’ll manage to reread all these! 😀 https://readwithstefani.com/books-i-want-to-read-again/

    1. Haha, I know, Anna and the French Kiss feels like it was read in another lifetime almost 🙂

  15. Re- reads can be nice, and I love the idea of doing it around holiday time! The Marie books and the Buxbaum one as well look super fun.

    1. I love rereads, though I always wish I could reread more 🙂

  16. Mareli Thalwitzer says:

The Flat Share was sooo good! It was my first Beth O’Leary, but it won’t be my last one, that’s for sure.

    Great selection!

    1. Oh if you loved The Flatshare, I think you may also love her latest release, The Switch! I adored both of those 🙂

  17. Loved The Kiss Quotient! Just reread An Ember in the Ashes, so it’ll probably be a while before I read it again.

    1. I just reread An Ember in the Ashes too! (And now eagerly awaiting my delivery of A Sky Beyond The Storm…). The Kiss Quotient was amazing, definitely want to re-read soon.

  18. These are some great choices! I’d love to read Autoboyography again. I think about that one all the time, but so far I haven’t managed to check it out again.

    1. Thanks! Autoboyography is one of those books that always comes up when I’m talking about favorites and yet I still need to reread it 🙂
