Hi everybody, and welcome to a new Top Ten Tuesday!

Today’s all about pet names, and well, don’t books provide excellent naming inspiration for this purpose?

Here are a few bookish characters I’d love to name a pet after!

Cat names

I think ZOYA would be a fun name for a pet. I had a lot of fun this week creating my list because I’ve had a lot of pets named for literary charactersMy TTT List

    1. Zoya would be a fun name indeed 🙂

  3. I thought of Azriel too, but as Asriel from His Dark Materials… Watson is a cool idea too!

    1. Oh, Asriel is also a fun spin!

  4. I love all the more unique names you chose like Nox and Zwi. There’s something about short names.

    1. Short names are definitely my favorites too 🙂

  5. Jem would be such a cute name for a pet! I named my bunny Apollo which kind of also is a character’s name. 😀

    1. Oh, I love the idea of mythology names for pets too!

  6. Patrick Prescott says:

  7. Great list! Chauncey is such a good name for a dog, and I love the idea of a cat called Zoya.

      1. I just now saw it on another list! It’s a winner today.

  14. Great list!

    1. Thanks!

  15. Ooh these are all great choices!! I absolutely agree with Zoya, I think that would be a name I’d choose too (maybe a black cat with super thick fur and blue eyes, haha!)

    1. I can definitely see Zoya as a black-haired, blue-eyed cat 🙂

  16. Marianne Maurer says:

Great ideas for the pet names. My favourite is Watson for a cat. I can just see the expression in their face.

Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier.

    1. Watson does sound like a fun name for a cat 🙂

  17. Chauncey is such a cute name! Well, really, all of these are good, but I would definitely see a pampered Chauncey around the house.

    1. Chauncey would totally be a pampered dog 🙂

  18. I liked this list. Oh BTW (I am a bit of an aspiring writer) I am currently working on something and it has a Lycan named Bones. He usually goes by Bo though. Shiro is a really neat name too, and I can just imagine Chauncey as a bulldog. Here’s my list if you’re interested. If not that’s fine as well.

    1. Ah that’s so fun that you are writing a character names Bones (or Bo, which is also a fun name!) You’re right, I can definitely imagine Chauncey as a bulldog!

  19. I love that you broke this up by Dog and Cat names! I think Bones would be a great farm dog, out in the world defending the territory, but Chauncy should be a lap dog. XD #SorryNotSorry

    My TTT post!

    1. Haha you’re right I can totally imagine Bones and Chauncey as those type of dogs 🙂

  20. Mareli Thalwitzer says:

    1. Thanks! Zoya and Jem both already sound adorable in my mind 🙂

  22. These are all so great. I especially love Azriel and Zoya. 🙂

    1. Azriel and Zoya do sound like fun names 🙂

  23. Great list of names.

Nox was actually the name of my inlaws cat. Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago.

    1. Aww, I’m sorry to hear about Nox! But glad to hear the name is popular.
