Hi everybody and welcome to a new Something Different Sunday!
Since we are halfway through the year and doing our mid-year book wrap ups, I wanted to do the same for music. More specifically, k-pop, because I feel like we have really been blessed with some amazing releases this year.
Keep reading for my top ten k-pop songs, released in the first half of 2018:
First, let’s start with some honorable mentions, because as I said there were so many great songs and making this top ten kind of broke my heart, but these songs just barely didn’t make the top ten:
J-Hope – Daydream;
Twice – What Is Love;
Day6 – Shoot Me;
Pentagon – Shine;
Cross Gene – touch it
And now, for my top ten:
10. ERIC NAM – HONESTLY
This is such a summer jam! I love playing this while I’m driving on a sunny day.
9. BIGBANG – FLOWER ROAD
Aww I already miss BigBang so much, so this beautiful song written about their military deployment made me so emotional.
8. STRAY KIDS – DISTRICT 9
Such a powerful debut! I’m calling it now, these kids will make it big!
7. NCT 2018 – BLACK ON BLACK
THAT CHOREOGRAPHY! I must have watched it a thousand times already.
6. THE ROSE – BABY
Such an underrated band. This is such a gorgeous song and it deserves all the love.
5. BTS – FAKE LOVE
What? Lindsey’s favorite band only on number five? Yeah, that’s when you know there REALLY were a lot of great releases this year that I loved just that tiny bit more than Fake Love (I still adore it though).
4. NCT U – BOSS
When I have a tough day or I’m not feeling very well, I play this song and I get pumped up enough to keep going. You know, like a boss.
3. SEVENTEEN – THANKS
I still can’t get over the sheer beauty of this song and the choreography. It’s a work of art.
2. BLACKPINK – DDU-DU DDU-DU
My favorite girls finally had their comeback and I loved it. Seriously, how can you not crush on every single one of them?
1. MONSTA X – JEALOUSY
Talking about crushes. Monsta X is definitely my favorite song of the year. Jealousy is my bop and though I already loved these guys, Jealousy made me want to become a Monbebe even more.
