Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books On My Spring TBR

As hosted by The Broke & The Bookish

Top Ten TuesdaySpring is finally in the air! Time to put away the heavy winter coats, gloves, scarves and bad winter moods (speaking for myself here). Time to open up a window, paint your nails in some fresh, fun colours and take out the sunglasses. Oh and not to forget, time to read some more books!

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is about books that are on my spring TBR. I decided to split it evenly between 5 new releases coming out this spring and 5 older releases that I really want to catch up on. So without further ado, here’s my spring TBR:

5 Spring 2016 releases:

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

It’s not technically a spring release since it already came out on March 8th, but I will read it in spring so I say it counts! I’m super excited but also a bit hesitant to read the next series in the shadowhunters world. I completely adored The Infernal Devices. I loved the first three books of The Mortal Instruments. But I was honestly pretty dissappointed with the last 3 TMI books. So I’m curious about The Dark Artifices and I’m really hoping I’ll like it!

When We Collided by Emery Lord

When We Collided by Emery Lord

This contemporary that is set to come out on April 8th is not something I usually read. It’s about mental illness, grief and summer romance so it pretty much sounds like a real tearjerker. Maybe it’s because the description reminds me a bit of All The Bright Places which was such a hauntingly beautiful read. Maybe it’s just because I like the cover which is fun and colourful and I want to understand how it would fit the heavy topics inside the book. All I know is that I really want to read this one.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

The sequel to A Court of Thorns and Roses is finally coming out on May 3rd and it’s one of my most anticipated releases of 2016. I loved the first one, which was a Beauty and the Beast retelling and I have heard that this one is inspired by the story of Hades and Persephone. Which I understand will mean more Rhys and more Night Court… Yes, please!

The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

Another sequel coming out on May 3rd is The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh. It is the sequel to The Wrath and the Dawn which was a retelling of A Thousand and One Nights and one of my most loved books of 2015. It was enthralling, romantic and beautifully written and I can’t wait to get back into the story of Shahrzad and Khalid.

The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye

The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

This fantasy novel is set to come out on May 17th and I am already obsessed just by reading the description. It’s set in an alternate imperial Russia and follows two enchanters who must compete against eachother to become the Tsar’s Royal Enchanter. The loser will be executed. It sounds like an amazing mix of An Ember in the Ashes with Shadow and Bone and I am already in love.

5 Older releases

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

First up on my list of highly hyped books I still need to read is Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I could have picked any book by Colleen Hoover because all her books are hyped so much and still I have read none of them. But Ugly Love will be the first one that I will read this spring and I have very high expectations!

These Broken Stars

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

I am craving a very good sci-fi romance lately and I really hope this one will satisfy. Judging from the hype and all the good reviews however, I am pretty sure that I will be more than happy with it!

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Yes, I may have put this on the list just because there are slaves in it which reminded me of the Captive Prince series…  I know I am obsessed, yet I have no regrets! But also, it is a highly praised fantasy series with a strong female lead character and a forbidden romance so I’m pretty sure I will like this one anyway.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

This fantasy series has been on my TBR for a while now and I will finally be reading it this spring. Plus the entire trilogy is out now so if I like it I can binge read the rest of the series, which is one of the best things ever!

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey

The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey

I loved The 5th Wave and I want to be able to read this one before the final book in the series , The Last Star, comes out in May. I’ve heard some mixed reviews about The Infinite Sea though so I am pretty curious.

What’s on your spring TBR? And have you already read any of these books yet? If yes, what did you think?

    1. Thanks! I know the feeling: so many books, so little time 🙂 But Lady Midnight is one of the first ones on the TBR!

  2. I’ve been meaning to read The Infinite Sea since it came out. Then I heard the mixed reviews, and have just been putting it off ever since. But I don’t know, because I loved the first book and want to continue. The Wrath and The Dawn is on my Spring TBR! I’m hoping to pick it up next.

    1. I understand completely about The Infinite Sea! I loved The 5th Wave, but the mixed reviews of the second one got me a little nervous 🙂 The Wrath and the Dawn is really great, I hope you’ll like it!

  3. I can’t believe I didn’t think to add Lady Midnight. But oh my goodness! You’ve got some great titles on your list! These Broken Stars, Red Rising, Ugly Love, The Infinite Sea…I hope you enjoy them all as much as I did!

    1. Thanks! I’m happy to hear you liked those titles 🙂 I’m excited to finally start them but I’m sure I will love them.

  4. can’t we all just take – like – a month off and READ? I might put a dent in my TBR continent that way 😉

    1. Best idea ever, I would love a month for only reading! Though I’m sure at the end of the month there will still be more new books to add to the TBR again 🙂

  5. Awwww, I forgot all about “The Rose and the Dagger”. Well, that’s certainly another one to look forward to! Awesome TBR list. Hope you get a chance to read and enjoy each one!
